The MTX situation is going to kill it for me :(
I fully realize that, at least to a great extent, Sony is responsible for the situation. This is a feedback board, and I'm gonna have to leave that feedback anyway.
I have been transitioning further and further away from playing on PC. The news that PoE2 will be cross play emphasized that decision for me. I'm currently at a point where I'm mostly done with PC. I spent quite a bit on MTX over the years. Not having access to all that when I'm continuing to play is simply crushing. It just way more likely that I won't play PoE instead of re-rigging my PC for gaming. The one thing that is definitely not going to happen is re-buying all that MTX again. A solution for me would be to transfer all my stuff permanently to PSN. I'm hoping that you guys can make something, anything, work in that regard. Last bumped on Nov 30, 2024, 3:35:06 PM

Yeah, I agree it sucks.
If I still had a full-time job and disposable income, I would literally buy an XBox because of this. Way to market for your opponents, Sony. | |
I'm simply going to drop everything in PS and life that follows!
GGG deserves much more than PlayStation, which doesn't care about its community. |

Has GGG commented as to whether this is a done deal or something they’re not going to give up on? It’s making me very hesitant to invest any more money into the PS5 version (or the Playstation ecosystem for that matter), and I might even get an Xbox Series X instead.

Oddly enough....I watched the Twitch stream yesterday and received the new wings (hands) on my PS5....
I have also made a purchase in the PoE store and will confirm if it shows up on my PS5 tonight. Maybe mtx are working after the account merger--but not intentionally? :D |

" I'd guess the hands showed up because they are not paid. So Twitch drops should work like challenge rewards, as they have no monetary value attached from spending points on them. |
|
You are correct.
Purchase did not transfer to PlayStation. Well, at least that is confirmed... |
|
" In the same boat and this is basically making me commit to spending ZERO on Path of Exile MTX/Supporter packs going forward. MTX purchased on PC will not transfer to PS5 and MTX purchased on PS5 won't transfer to PC. This makes each option practically worthless for any of us that had intended to jump between each of these platforms. And it's not as simple as just rebuying the MTX we want on the second platform; Much of the MTX I want to use is from closed beta supporter packs and is unable to be repurchased. ... I just want my original kiwi following me around. :( all my enthusiasm for POE2 has gone |

Surely there has to be some legal workarounds GGG can try?

The only reason I can imagine is Playstation want to ensure they get the chance to sell stuff to those users that are playing on their platform. (which, they would do in my case if I could use those purchases on PC. but since that's not possible then I won't spend money on PSN)
It seems petty and desperate on SONYs behalf, since they don't have this requirement for other titles, but who are we to know what's going on. However ... as an option (and I realise we already have spent money on these cosmetics) I would pay a fee to be able to use and have access to my existing MTX. I was thinking something like a Playstation POE2 MTX Access Pass for $30 or something to unlock the use of "foreign" MTX on Playstation and allow PSN purchases to be used on other platforms. That would be thirty bucks more than they would get from me otherwise. |
