AI Assistant for Exiles Stranded in Wraeclast for Less Than 10 Years
I know you all work hard to make this game better, and I appreciate that. However, time flies, and new approaches, tools, and technologies constantly emerge.
One of the most impactful innovations is AI chatbots. The amount of information in this game is vast—so much so that even 10 years wouldn’t be enough to grasp even half of it. Where to buy a specific gem? How to craft boots with 10% movement speed? What are the best support gems for Burning Arrow? What is this particular #### currency used for? How can I improve my survivability? What can I craft on my current items? What even is crafting? Where can I find a specific unique item? Why am I dying so often? How do resistances work, and how can I increase them? How does armor function? What quests did I miss that would give me talent points in which acts? Where do I find a specific mob for a spectre? The questions are endless. Even for experienced players, there are tons of things to learn. Personally, I hate having to switch away from the POE window. This is the only game where I need to open multiple apps and browser tabs just to have a normal playing experience, let alone play like a pro. We could integrate AI directly into the game, providing support and assistance through voice or chat. It would be amazing to configure the game with simple commands, like: “Highlight Bone rings in the loot filter.” “Lower the resolution.” “Whisper a reply: ‘Sanctum, I’ll be there in 3 minutes for the trade.’” Implementing this wouldn’t take much time, and it could be designed as an in-game character you can talk or chat with. The overall experience for players would significantly improve. This isn’t just something for the future — we should have done it years ago. Last bumped on Oct 4, 2024, 10:56:16 AM

POE is a game that leverages external tools. ChatGPT and the like are already very capable of providing POE information, give it a shot.
“Freedom is what we do with what is done to us.”

ChatGPT is not for this purpose, as it's not a part of the game. AI based on voice and dynamic complicated interaction is near future of any modern game. Verbal AI when you could speak to NPC ask and answer, interact and command as a real human. When NPC has its own mindset, not scripted dialogs, but real communication. Ask for help, heal, attack, stay away, assist, follow, use some auras/buffs/skills, provide suggestions, anything else that might be a part of adventure.
For example: you have some build, right? Ranger? Archer? But now boss provide dynamic strategy and behavior, not scripted but based on your build, he act like a human to be more efficient use another spells another movements to be more complicated and smart. That's not so complicated in overall. For example any Boss might have 4-5 abilities, stages 3-4 and 3-4 movements. For some build would be more efficient some abilities, some stages and specific movements. Let it be not predictable, let it be different for different builds. Let bosses speech according to user character, let him joke about user's past, build or items. For example: "You're coming to me for the 5th time, what are you hoping for, poor witch?" Let's use text to speech and provide us ability to hear this, that would be great experience, next generation RP experience. Let boss to ask users, for example: "Haha, would you like me to use sword or mace to kill you?" User might answer anything or even ask to use both that will make fight even harder. Bosses or NPC can be not so friendly in case of some kind of rude behavior from user or even be more aggressive. I want to see this, I want to play this game like this. Won't you? I don't know why you say this isn't complicated and wouldn't be difficult.
But more importantly this sounds godawful. This isn't "the future of gaming," it's an obnoxious gimmick that no self-respecting studio would do except as an act of extreme desperation to compensate for a lack of compelling gameplay. You might as well ask them to put NFTs into the game. Minus ten billion. |

I say it's easy just because I work at AI area, you could put any info and ask any questions regarding it.
For example when you come to some vendor at Act 2 and have some active spells / gems already set. At the point of getting rewards you could ask NPC what gems are good for you and WHY? You just have to put these info to GPT system: 1. NPC character data, at what style reply, some additional base info and instructions. 2. Table of gems and popular setups. 3. Actual user setup. And then just provide the result to the user. The result will be actual and user specific. That's it. No complicated algorithm, data bases, if/else statements etc. One time realization for all the characters and game cases, might be put for the all places where we have Gem rewards. |

Ok, let me provide SUPER simple example based on ChatGPT 4o, with a simple prompt and check answer:
Prompt: " Silk answer: " Isn't it better than nothing? I think it should be already in the game. That's a simple example of next generation of all RP games. |

" That honestly sounds like a fun idea, if people just wanna spice up their gameplay with some stuff like this, or if they simply want some questions answered without having to alt-tab and look through multiple wiki sites/use stuff like pob. I had fun reading this answer, I think it's something that can definitely be considered. AI can only grow more from here anyway, eventually it will be integrated into many things in our daily life just like any other technology. |

" yeah, ChatGPT told people to craft with harvest and then fossil I would like to wait for rant thread on why fossil deleted their mod and then blame the game not ChatGPT This is the start of forum signature: I am not a GGG employee. Man if the feedback forum had their way we wouldnt even need to play the game anymore.
Some of the suggestions lately remind me of quote from a football commentator. Its along the lines of "If you listen to the fans enough when making decisions you will shortly join them" |

" No, it's not better than nothing. Here are three obvious reasons why: 1 - You completely handwaved the fact that the game would have to correctly determine what skill and build the player is using with literally one hundred percent accuracy to avoid giving bad information to new players. You fed in the fact that you're a ranger using caustic arrow, but how does the game determine this in an actual application of this AI Tool? I don't know if you've ever watched new players playing this game, but they tend to have like 9 different skill gems equipped in random configurations, often with supports that make no sense. So the only way this advice is remotely useful is for people who don't actually need it because they're either following a guide or a veteran player, and in either case they already know what skill gem to take. 2 - In the manner typical of AI generated responses, what's being said doesn't quite make sense. Taking a support gem which lowers your attack speed because you are a "light and nimble" character is a real head scratcher. 3 - Not only does this not sound remotely like Silk, it doesn't sound like any other NPC in the game or any other game I've ever played. When's the last time you finished a mission in literally any game ever made and the NPCs congratulated you with the name of the quest, rather than a description of what you did? And these are just the glaringly obvious issues with the reply as a written message, it would be an order of magnitude worse coupled with an AI-generated audio response. A tool which constantly broke the 4th wall with obnoxious disjointed replies which couldn't be trusted to give good advice is literally worse than having nothing at all. |
