Two new League ideas

Disclaimer: So, I haven't played this game in years due to having poor internet and a bad laptop. My situation has changed at the start of this league, just in time. I don’t know the state of PoE and if the games leagues will end with the start of PoE2 so I will not invest to much time explaining my ideas, I had a thought to do a mock up and graphical show case of how the mechanics might work as it is just an idea and a lot be done towards making it fit into the game.

Basic ideas are:

No.1 build your own level/realm to visit and conquer, spawns an area to travel to like a Vaal side area and has a boss to defeat.

No.2 is to build your own boss in an area with summoned mobs. This might touch too much on Metamorph and the Menagerie.

Idea number 1: Like in The Elder Scrolls painting world levels, a similar thing could be done in PoE just using shaders and texture effects. I got the idea form a desert level fighting a scorpion boss and the sand textures, with quick sand and my character becoming covered in dirt/mud, it was seriously cool and got me thinking about Delirium and how it also changes the game.

So, my one idea (and this can be work on and changed however the devs or others suggest) is to have ruin walls scattered about the game per zone type with different mural walls ready for the player to interact with. There are various ways this could work but think it should be built off a base – the background this determined by the type of wall and area them it would fit into. So, the player paints the background – creates the area type that will be spawned for the zone type. Then paints three figures a left image, a middle image and a right image. Each image means something and for the overall paining tells a story? Not too sure about this but the idea would be that these images the player chooses mean something to the zone you get to too. I could see this working like the Temple you can travel to and design by choices (The Temple of Atzoatl).

So basically, the player enters a new zone finds a wall and runs up to it and completes the painting. Then a portal will appear for the player to enter and experience a cool zone.

Art styles I can think of that would work - art noir which is basically just a reskin of Delirium without the music track and blur – it could still have the faded sound or maybe something more fitting.

The Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh to fit along my inspiration of The Elder Scrolls. The shader arts will have to go all out to get it right but it could look amazing.

Aztec art/ Maui art/ Māori art which is something you guys already have going for you with assets and all that is needed is an over the top colour overlay with bright colours.

Not too sure if the player just click a wall and make choices of three like that battle guy (cannot remember mechanics name) or have to find and use art supplies, I don’t know but the base idea is here and it just needs work done to figure this stuff out.

The second idea is basically a totem like the American Indians had. I have seen this sort of totem throughout the history of PoE done in different ways. This is basically a player builds his own totem in an arena ring and it will spawn mobs for the to face off against. Many ways this can be done but the idea is also there. Build a battle encounter by building up the totem.

I will be honest, not a fan. I think you should keep idea what Path of Exile is in mind, then trying to develop something. Since the Harvest league there was a lot of content to base what works and what not in this genre. It might be worth looking into.
