elemental overload with secrets of suffering disables aliments

I was under the impression the line aliments never count as being from critical strikes just implied the damage wasn't multiplied by the innate crit.
So in theory it should still apply the alt aliments since you are still criting with the attacks right?
Just wondering if this is intended.
