Glacial Shield Swipe numbers are the same as Shield Crush of the Chieftain
Shield Crush of the Chieftain has 2 waves that can overlap, making the damage 26 to 40 added damaged per 15 armour on the shield.
Glacial Shield Swipe only has a single hit and does 29 to 43 damage per 15 armour, but on a 3.5 seconds cooldown. Shouldn't the numbers for Glacial Shield Swipe be doubled ? Was it an oversight, or is the purpose of Glacial Shield Swipe to freeze enemies rather than actually use it as a damaging skill ? Last bumped on Oct 17, 2024, 1:49:21 AM

Dude, these new retaliation skills are horrible, don't even waste your time with it

there are quite a few notable differences between these:
- Shield Crush of the Chieftain is 'base fire damage', not phys->element. this is absolutely huge. it makes the skill much harder to scale and completely closes some scaling options. also it demands AR shield. AR/EV shields are in general better in every way so it is another con. - SCotC deals damage in two hits. so it actually cuts ignite damage in half. you still can do it (i did, with Emberwake cheeze) but just so you know - it is suboptimal choice - it might sound petty but the entire setup around SCotC is 'forced': marauder's start does not support this skill, mana cost is a huge issue, ignite gems require dex or int you dont have early etc etc. You can try and force templar (better starting nodes) or witch but.. Chieftain's explosions are hard to pass on the other hand: - the area on triggered skill is ENORMOUS and due to big native base, scales impressively - 'base phys damage' means you can easily scale it with things like Hatred, Herald of Ash and various 'phys as extra' sources, plus the usual conversion chain if you want - do not underestimate screen-wide freezes (+prolif). it is crowd control, panic button - i do not know if there is a better one. if anything, after playing with both - the SCotC is in a dire need of changes, it outright sucks compared to regular Shield Crush to be frank.. |
