If leagues are 4 months now, why not old Leagues for 1 month?

With 4 month leagues as standard, why not bring an event in the 4th month.

The special event is an old league for 1 month.

I would love to play some of the old leagues again.

For me Synthesis for would be great, build your own map was fun.

GGG could rotate old leagues or let people vote. Would this be easy to do?

Anyone else would like to play old leagues?

Or is it a case of "You think you want but you dont" :D

They sometimes do mini-leagues, but at this point all of their resources are going to either the next league or POE2.
I mean most of the leagues are still in the game for the most part so cycling leagues would only be for the select leagues that never went core. I think there is a reason they didnt go core.. in the first place. People liked/dislike these leagues for various reasons or they didn't fit anywhere in the game.

Special events are far better suited for something in between a league that spices things up. I just wish they would let them run for a longer duration. Often they do these for 1 week and that's not enough time to dive into the game for me.

Nobody liked archnemesis but it went core (yeah they removed it but still)
Everyone loved Sentinel and recombinators, not core, we still yelling for them to go core.

Yeah like Heist, Crucible, Delve, sooner or later Trial Of The Ancestors, I mean, they "didn't fit"

By mid-league the game has lost more than half of the active player base, adds nothing to the game, and usually goes to final to prepare for the next league, so players arrive fresh for the next league because they came back weeks/days before the patch.

It's for FOMO, It is a manipulation strategy that makes you have the need to engage with the events, otherwise you will lose the experience of the event and its rewards forever. Furthermore, the beauty of its duration lies in the fact that it is a special event, and in which most of it is to challenge yourself to complete the challenges set in the shortest time possible, even so, 1 week is enough to do several different builds or 1 decently strong. If 1 week isn't enough then don't engage with it, it's okay!

All hands on deck now for poe2. Will be like this for at least another 6-12 months I bet.

Used to, they tend not to do them anymore.

Why?

Because the metrics showed that it caused a dip in players when the next full league launched because players had burned themselves out on the filler mini league.
And when their business plan is to target league launch with new mtx it also hurt them in the pocket.
