Item Quantity and Rarity Stack?

If I have 2 or more characters with lots of item quantity and rarity, does it increase the drop rate of items in the game? Or does only the person with the highest quantity count or does it add up the total amount of item quantity per character in party?

When in a party, only the statistics from the player who lands the killing blow on an enemy is applied.
