It's hard to help you with just the information posted. The RLIMIT_NICE message shows up often and is likely not the culprit.
What are your specs? Are you using the stand-alone or the steam client? If you're using steam I'd recommend trying protonGE https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom, clearing steam download cache and disabling shader pre-caching. |

Really hard to say as you don't mention what distro you're using, if you are running the game by stand alone or Steam client, if the PC is AMD or Nvidia and if Nvidia you have switched the drivers for this, if have you installed Mesa and so on.
I would recommend that you follow this guide from Youtube, up until MangoHud, and then look up the Gamemode setting from ProtonDB for POE. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfBi0mRzzvk |

" In the case of the Steam version, try specifying the forced use of Proton 8: in the game settings, under "Compatibility" check "Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool" and then from the dropdown list select "Proton 8.0-5". This version works for me after the last update broke launching with Proton Experimental (I encountered difficulties logging in, but the game itself installs and launches). You could also try launching through a separate (non-Steam) game client using Lutris or Bottles. Last edited by sm85#4240 on Mar 3, 2024, 10:48:38 PM
