My noob impression of beastcrafting/menagerie

Hi, I've played a fair amount of this game over the years but have never much gotten into anything with the menagerie besides popping in here and there each league.

This league, I dropped an interesting piece of armor during a temple run. I decided to try splitting it and got lucky. Not crazy lucky, but it gave me a promising magic split. This got me pretty enthusiastic because I figured I could imprint it and maybe eventually have a decent rare.

Due to the fantastic drop rate of scarabs this league and flexibility to respec the atlas with all the unmaking orb drops, I figured I'd try speccing into all things beast. I had about 150 some odd gilded scarabs to use.

I now have around 60 of them, so I thought I would pause and give some feedback on this game mechanic.

First: the postive:

There are some fantastic options available in beastcrafting and the aspects are a very valuable and useful feature.

Einhar is one of the coolest NPCs and welcome breath of positivity in the grimdark world of POE. I never get tired of having him around.

The concept itself, like most of the concepts in this game is unique and very interesting.

Second: what I personally feel could be changed without much work:

Actually, almost no work. I think beastcrafting could be greatly improved by simply removing some of the recipes. I have yet to get a Craicic Chimeral to even attempt an imprint, after fighting literally hundreds and likely thousands of beasts, not sure, lots of beasts though.

When I do get one, I will still need to contend with whatever mods get added to it when I regal it. Given the range of what those may be, it is unlikely the first attempt, or the tenth attempt will be anything to write home about. This is a pretty grim prospect. I stand to potentially make a good suit of armor, not a mirror-tier suit of armor, maybe by the end of the league. This is exacerbated heavily by unweighted spawn rates of beasts for recipes like: making 8 chromatic orbs, 2 orbs of binding (which is a baffling currency anyway imo), unique crafting, which so far has yielded the same exact items that were falling in piles even before the wildwood existed, I'm not sure about the flasks, but it seems like I can get most of what I need there from regular alteration orbs and the 2 types of flask enchantment currency. I'm not sure what all I don't have yet, but it also got so filled with beasts that I have no idea which ones are being replaced either.

This system really doesn't even need an overhaul, it would be nice, but probably not on the priority list, but I think just getting rid of some of it would be awesome. Thanks for your time.
