Full Energy Shield: Everlasting Sacrifice, Immortal Amibtion, ES Recoup

Given the context where i have a source of ES recoup which far exceeds 5% degen, say maven belt, and I'm using machination on a tricker with Spellbreaker.

Let's also assume that, it's standard and there's negative ES gear so the total ES pool is miniscule (let's say 100) and the recoup is achieved through massive boneshatter trauma with phys taken as fire mods (lethal pride, korell's etc etc). Let's also assume that this recoup is over 100k a second.

What happens?

With constant ES recoup that exceeds "lose 5% ES per second", do i ever "reach" full ES?

With the metric above, would it count as full ES with tricker spellbreaker?

Since Lose isn't degen, does the counteraction from recoup overcoming degen to remain at full still count in this context?

It should be counting as full Energy Shield once the recoup tops it off; however, if it would count as full for Spellbreaker, it'd also count as full for Everlasting Sacrifice...which would then set your ES back to 0, so you wouldn't be full anymore.

can you even recoup energy shield while you have immortal ambition?

If everything works correctly, and you are regularly recouping ES: you'd still only be at full ES basically 75% of the time (4 second recoup, every 4 seconds lose all your ES,essentially THREE seconds of full ES with enough recoup every 4 seconds).

The "regen" from recoup would absolutely counter the "degen" from "lose 5%". Degen is any source of % damage taken over time, regardless of language. Think RF and Blood Rage as examples: very different wording, both just normal degen that can be overcome with strong enough regen. The only thing "lose" offers to this is that it is not "damage" and therefore cannot be mitigated in any way.

well, there are many examples where you could recoup the entire ES pool immediately at all times. for example, self inflicted damage via forbidden rite or trauma would trigger the recoup with nine lives.

or maven belt and boneshatter/trauma with physical damage taken as elemental should recoup too

with enough speed/stacks etc, the recoup values would be in the 10k+ or 100k+

additionally, recoup is not regen, but it is a form of recovery. it's neither recharge nor regen, so according to description it would function

In those scenarios though, every time you attack or self-harm you dip below max ES (as far as I'm aware). So you would have even LESS time at max life.

Even if you were to take 1 damage of self-harm, while recouping 100k es, that 1 damage still removes your "Full ES" effect as recoup does not protect against any FUTURE damage. You would regen almost instantly ofc, but the keyword is "almost". Damage comes first.


But perhaps the speed is such that this wouldn't be felt, idk.

As I think more, I WILL say that, as an RF lover, you are NEVER at full life even if your regen outspeeds the degen. So maybe even the "Lose 5%" DOES turn off any chance of "at full ES" to begin with because "damage always comes first".

yea that was the interaction i was most curious about first.

also self-harm with machinations would completely bypass ES in the first place
