Trade System is Terrible
I love PoE. It's trading system is hot garbage.
Message a million people who don't respond because they are AFK, fighting and not willing to stop to accept the trade, posted something hours/days/weeks/months/years ago and their prices are outdated, posted the wrong price on something like 1 chaos instead of 1 divine, posted something with no intention of fulfilling a trade because they are just trying to manipulate the market, or because someone just messaged them about the same item and they sent them a party invite instead of you. Then there's the discrepancy over how many chaos equate to .X of a divine. The trade website, today, for example, in Affliction league, says .1 divine is 22 chaos, or .2 is 43, but some people think .2 is 46 and will lose their mind over you shorting them 3 chaos on a trade worth over 500c because they didn't check the conversion rate on the trade listing. Having to stop what you're doing to go to your hideout or town to accept a trade, especially when you're running something like lab and you can't return to the instance so you have to decide to miss the trade or restart lab. Failed to join instance when trying to join someone's hideout to complete a trade. Having to trade from one currency to another so you have change to complete trades or having to ask a seller to make change for you. People listing things for odd currencies, like instead of chaos or divine, I want hundreds of alteration orbs for this item. Clicking tons of stacks of currency and hoping you counted it right and then hoping you counted the currency someone is giving you correctly. Mousing over an item and trying to make sure it's the item you messaged them for to avoid scams and simple mistakes. All this while everyone is moving at break neck speed because trading is an interruption to their gameplay or they have 43 trades going simultaneously and they're frantically trying to complete trades. Someone messages you and invite them and they're in the wrong league. Trying to buy multiple of something and one person doesn't send you a group invite and someone else you messaged after them did. Then they send you a party invite just after you accepted the other person's invite. Now they don't want to wait on you so they drop the group. It's so stressful, ripe for abuse, poor quality of life, cumbersome, etc. I'm sure there are more problems I left out, but these are a few. Every time I try to invest time into PoE I always come back to this, and it's the reason I don't play more. I play for a while until I'm so disgusted by this system I log off for months. Can we have auction house league next league? It would seriously be the best league ever. We don't need another mechanic, just fix what's clearly broken. Lack of auction house is literally why PoE isn't the industry-leading gold standard in ARPGs that no other game would be even close to touching. Bring this problem into PoE2 at your own peril. Good luck with that. It is broken by design.

They had a roundtable of the godfather of all the ARPG's and most of them agreed the more easier it is to trade = a bad thing.
So no it's by design no matter how much you wanna say it's terrible they're not going to move past it. Dys an sohm

I get your frustration cause we all had this time when we message bunch of people and nobody respond.
The main issue comes from the delay between actually posting/removing item from sale and what the site shows you. You might have messaged either people who already sold the items or got spammed for the item and probably chose another buyer. Theres also the factor of people not wanting to break their farm for few extra chaos they will get... especially this late in the league TBH i think the only solution would be if they can make the transfer automatic - f.e. I click on the item i want to buy and it goes in my inventory/stash and the payment goes to seller stash. Then there will be no scams too This will lead to other issues though Just my opinion |

Trade is awful outdated and frankly an insult to players at this point. The reasons they haven't improved it are laughable at best and outright hostile at worst. Their inflexibility it inability to fix trade has cost sone a lot of players.
They believe faster trade makes upgrades feel less meaningful, while true, so does everything about their game design. Players are pushed into skipping upgrades until they get basically a bis item. Sidegrades are practically unusable because builds need very specific gem slots/colors/links and very specific mod weights. They think they made an arpg where ground loot matters, 99% of items are crafted. We Franky don't have the tools to make their dumbest nongold currency system produce results. Even the most deterministic systems we have are far more expensive then trading. The difference between 10 divines ( or whatever the metamod currency is) and say 4. Couple this with having to use a website instead of an ingame tool. They seem to want players to haggle a bit, but 99% of trades are the listed price and could literally be done via an ah system. Players rarely talk beyond "ty" or " already sold the item" And God forbid you list an item too cheaply. Your going to get thousands of bot messages trying to flip your item. The game is balanced around trade, but they made it ass to use. It just doesn't feel good. And frankly after the 3rd week of a league and sometimes the 3rd week of the league, very few people bother to respond. Even fir like 5-20 divine trades. i feel people are very hostile with this trading system, becouse i got answere from pleyers: dont whisper me, that make me wonder why do they have the item out for sale in the first place?
