Definitely bugged! I didn't have your issue, but twice the wisps have led me into a dead end that killed me when the degen trapped me.

Was not bugged for me when I killed him earlier today. Wisps lead me straight to where the portal is.

The wisps are tricky, once they stop moving you have to look around quickly to see the next one.
