Petrified blood.
I still can't love this defensive buff. I tried to use it again and it is supposed to be super good but I just don't like the drawbacks. It only works well if you reserve the 50% life otherwise the fact that you can't regen or leech the top half of your life is a big deal on top of the mana reservation the aura already has. Maybe make it less effective buff but remove the regen/leech penalty?
Reserving the 50% life is only safe if you have a lot of disposable HP otherwise you are just shooting yourself on the foot. Imagine if you run a 3-4k hp build going down to around 2k hp with 50% reserve you remain with so little life that you will just end up dying to one shots that the skill is supposed to prevent you from... So why would you even use it then? RF is totally not usable without reserving the 50% hp because you will just sit at 50% hp anyway and never regenerate up to max. If you run mageblood you are pretty much never going to use a life flask to recover the top 50% hp so it just does not make sense. Perhaps as an alternate version of the gem where you are not recommended to reserve the 50% hp.A version that works as staggering the damage taken but at a lower efficiency than the normal gem without the life regen and life leech penalty. 1) You don't have to reserve 50% of your life for it to be good. When combined with e.g. Defiance of Destiny and leaving your life fully unreserved you basically become immortal if the hit doesn't one-shot you
2) It enables life overleech on non-Slayers that would otherwise not have access to the mechanic 3) It enables Pain Attunement on spell caster builds that use ES as a secondary resourcee with Eldritch Battery 4) I use PB with a Mageblood and have had no issues whatsoever with the combo. My fifth flask is Taste of Hate for mapping and Bottled Faith for bosses. When I get chunked I can reset my health pool with a click of Temporal Rift 5) It even enables an Adrenaline tech with Charms + Pathfinder's Master Surgeon (flask effect not removed at full life) I think it's perfect the way it is. It offers a lot, so having drawbacks you have to build around is fair. It's well worth the investment and on several builds I played it was a key factor The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

Defiance of destiny is different thing. Maybe I don't want to use it because I'm bound to use another necklace. Defiance should not be mandatory to be used with petrified to make it good.

Defiance of Destiny is inarguably good without Petrified Blood

" I know it is good I use it on one of my character. What I'm saying is if I use petrified it should not be mandatory to use defiance to make it even better just because the necklace is broken. Petrified should be good on its own as well but reserving your life defeats the purpose. I'm suggesting a verison of petrified that works without the must have reserve life and the one where you don't need to use life flask to recover the top half of your life. I did mention I use it without Defiance, right? You can check out my Affliction Hierophant. PB is carrying that build hard
