CANNOT Play the Game - Failed To Decompress (Corrupted Data)

Most Recent Edit: I have found some weird information that may help with this..

So when I start my game, I enter town with other players, and whenever I try to go to my hideout, I will crash usually with the " Failed To Decompress (Corrupted Data)" error either entering the game in the loading screen, or trying to teleport into my hideout in the loading screen.
Well if I turn off the multi-threading in the graphics settings of PoE, I can play and not crash to my hideout.
fyi - Without multithreading the game looks TERRRIBLE - I played for a
few weeks with it off.
BUT I turned Multi-thread back ON in my hideout, and I have not crashed, I will only crash sometimes going to other players hideouts for trades.

Edit: I have found a temporary solution, disabling the "Engine Multithreading" Setting at the very bottom of Graphics in the Path of Exile game client.
I have not had a crash in quite some time... however the game is EXTREMELY choppy and this is definitely not a permanent solution.

Hi,

This just started happening the new Affliction league. I did not change anything settings or system wise. I just patched Path of Exile and started getting this crash, it started happening randomly around The Ledge in act 1 in the new Affliction League.
It started happening when I joined new zones, not every zone in the first act, but now I am in Act 2 and every time I try to leave the town to a different zone, the crash happens and the error comes up. It's just a small window that says,
"Error
Failed to decompress (corrupted Data)"

Here is a picture of the error: https://prnt.sc/4qPOcFhsaR2N

I read two fixes on google which seem ridiculous to me.
The first being "uninstall the game and install it on a hotspot." Well I started to try this and I sat around for 30 minutes making food and it didn't even move up 1%.
The second being I need to get a new ISP? I'm not sure how accurate both of these are but this is crazy.

Some Notes / What Has Been Tested:

- I play on Steam, however I have downloaded the stand-alone client outside of Steam and still experience the crashes with the error

- I have uninstalled, and reinstalled the game multiple times. Deleted everything Path of Exile related including PoE in my %appdata% folder, tried to install on a different hard drive, I even disabled ethernet and installed over Wifi

- This started happening since the new Affliction league, but I just tested it and this crash is happening in Standard as well

I am unsure what to do at this point as I cannot even play the game. Please ask any questions and I will test and edit the original document with what has been tested

I've been having similar problems this league. The problem is in the Content.ggpk file in your Path of Exile directory. I've been keeping a "clean" version of that file from the pre-league torrent and copying it in to patch over anytime the corruption keeps me from playing. I've also been keeping copies of the Content file immediately after patching.

As for reasons this might be happening, I have no idea but I'm not sure how much I buy the explanation of a dirty ISP cache. If that were the cause then I would expect consistency in the assets being corrupted, I would also expect the problem to subside as the ISP caches expire. Maybe it has something to do with the CDN? Either way you could try to download through a VPN.

There is the possibility that this could also indicate drive failure. If your drive is younger than 5 years old this is almost definitely not the problem, but it's good to check anyways. Look up how to do a SMART test. These tests aren't intensive, they're really just displaying information your drive keeps track of.
I am having this issue nonstop as well. Just did a clean install of windows on a new 870 Samsung SSD and new ram.

I just messaged support with screen grabs of releated and important info.
Been having this issue since league start as well. Unfortunately for me, I got my new computer on league start day so I have no way to know if the league caused this or not. I can't do anything but alch and go because it's too risky to waste currency on juicing when I just crash and lose portals or get kicked out of the wildwood >_>
I contacted support and they said no one can help me.....

I used to think very highly of GGG support, this is a shame.
just gotta stop giving them money then they will fix the problem

Edit: Kind of ironic, after posting this I actually crashed trying to join a Celestial Nebula hideout, but all seems fine after that..

its not our job to fix their game.. at the very least they can have someone give us a hey sorry we are looking into it.. but now we are all here stewing in this mess trying to troubleshoot a problem they need to fix on their end. like really upsets me that i pickup the season support and i can't even enjoy it. almost like wasting money on D4 all over again.
bumping happened to me today. please help
