Welcome! Hope you're ready to learn.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
Welcome, Exile.
It is a long haul but worth the trip.

I'm also new, excited to be here to start my POE journey. Let's get it!

Welcome, welcome.

I would recommend looking up item filters for the game. Item clutter (that which appears on the ground after killing mobs) can be very intimidating. Filters help to highlight which items are useful and which can be ignored.

It's not necessary, but it will ease your learning of the game.

Here is a list of the most popular filters. The "Neversink" ones at the top are recommended, both the Regular and Semi-strict versions. If you click on them and then click 'Follow', they'll automatically bind to your PoE account and be accessible via your in-game settings. https://www.pathofexile.com/item-filter/ladder/follower
I got the loot filter followed and turned on in game, now I need to learn what the colors and outlines mean for said items. I'm sure that comes with time.

Yeah, you'll come to grips with that stuff as you go. Generally, the bigger the item frame appears, the better it is. And if the item frame appears white with red text, it's very valuable.

Also, keep an ear open for certain sounds that play. If an item is especially valuable, you'll hear this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RhsScHWwI8

Hoho welcome to PoE! Good luck~ Hope you have fun! :D

It's a pretty daunting game at first, but it does get a ball rolling once you get a hang of it~
