In Memory of Metamorph
Back when Metamorph first released, metamorph quickly became my favourite league. at least "back then".
what i liked about metamorph: 1. emphasized "clearing the map - in many league mechanics, the typical way to play was just to spam maps/campaign maps with easy layouts to quickly find the league encounter, tp out and reopen a new one. - MM required the player to more or less full clear maps to get all/most of the monster parts. 2. decreased emphasis on clearspeed/dps meta - if you were slow and tanky or even weak, you could build the best/most rewarding MM boss at the end. unlike many of the newer league mechanics that required you to have tons of dps to race against a timer. 3. you can pussy out - if you think you're too weak, you can still create a weak ass boss and reap minimal rewards. 4. building a super boss in thane's lab 5. catalysts bringing increased player power/customization 6. eventually reworked so that regular organs are autopicked. what i disliked about metamorph: 1. hidden monsters can wreck your enjoyment. - you've "cleared" most of the map but some monsters could be drop bears or devourers which are hidden. if they're holding an organ that you're missing its simply a frustrating experience. 2. visibility as clear as black oil. - its a mess. black oil everywhere. 3. not clear to what a monster does - this can be a poe core issue but some attacks have huge shotgun potential but it can be very hard to see the attacks coming since everything is a mess 4. thanes lab is a hassle - the lab does not "clean the floor" so you end up with a ton of loot on the floor after a few rounds - the stash is 20 miles away from the battle arena - theres no easy way to "autofill" the organs. 5. terrible experience without premium stash - poe is f2p non p2w. but if you dont buy the preem mm stash you'll end up with a ton of organs that take up a gajillion stash tabs. take care thane. may you get the revenge you've always wanted.
