Faster Projectiles Support + Bow Mastery op?
|
Somehow this is my first time making a bow build and I noticed that nobody uses Faster Projectiles Support with Tornado Shot, Toxic Rain, Split Arrow etc. Also Vicious Projectiles Support is often used even if you can make proj speed apply to damage with bows which should make Faster Projectiles Suppor add a ton of damage. What am I missing?

it's not a ton of damage, it's just some increased damage. still a good mod to grab around the tree and on gear, but not good enough for a support gem

But why? Faster Projectiles Support adds 108% damge while Vicious Projectiles Support adds only 59% physical and -10% overall damage. Even with damage from additional conversion it should be much less than 108% increased damage. The only rason I can see Vicious Projectiles Support usefull is with chance to impale, but still it deals much less damage and there are better options to impale than wasting supporting socket.

Because that's the difference between "more" and "increased" damage. More is multiplicative while increased is additive.
Faster Projectiles Support will only be 'better' if you already want it for other reasons, like e.g. you are using Galvanic Arrow and want to increase its range The opposite of knowledge is not illiteracy, but the illusion of knowledge.

A decent finished character can commonly have anywhere between 300-600% increased damage in total (there's no standard, that's a super rough napkin range). That 108% increased would make the range 408-708. So even on the low end of that where you have 300%, 108% is only another third or so, which is much less than the 59% more because more always multiplies. For the 108% to be better, you would have to have less than 200% total increased, which is super low for an end character.
That said, early in the game (campaign), the 108% increased will be much stronger because of how low your total increased would be at that time. |

"Thank you, sir! That's an explaination even i can understand. Just do it! And keep it simple -
Things will become complicated by itself. |
