DX11 vs DX12 vs Vulcan
SO, what's the most stable / highest FPS renderer currently, especially after that damned particle update which butchered performance?
Can we establish what works best for the majority, I guess? Thx. New mute system is terrible - no trade... Last bumped on Mar 9, 2024, 8:30:45 PM

Vulkan work best for me, less CPU usage better low FPS, Dx12 got crazy high CPU Usage work fine but bad low FPS, Dx11 spikes is less serve than before after the change of shader load but it still mini freeze each time you need to cache new shader (Dx11 have the highest FPS but problems with the mini freeze).

For me Vulkan is clearly the best, DX11 or DX12 both crash every 5 min-ish, I very recently also had crashes with Vulkan but way less overall, I have 32gb ram I9 12900k, and 3080.
Hello guys.

I was using Vulkan but decided to switch do dx12 out of interest.
It seems that dx12 has more stable FPS. Overall Vulkan and dx12 seem somewhat same, they don't crash on regular basis, although I had one crash on vulkan "device lost" or something. Other than that, GPU memory, RAM, temps seem to be very very similar between these two. Will also try dx11. Will see the temps, fps, performance etc. Using ryzen9 5950x, 4060ti, 32gb ram, m2 ssd. New mute system is terrible - no trade...

Well, what a surprise...
DX11, and what should be the most stable renderer actually has worst and least stable fps + micro freezes/stutters... Wow, I'm speechless. New mute system is terrible - no trade...

I went into Delve, was getting around 140fps on DirectX11, switched to DirectX12, fps dropped to 83! So ok, lets try Vulkan: fps reaching 157 (my max being 165 btw).
Very perplexed, but thats at maximum quality everything, @ 3440x1440 with a 7800X3D and a 4090 (which should be overkill for POE, right?). But I went down a couple delves, and fps wouldn't go below 110fps on Vulkan, while it went way down on the other 2. Guess it will be Vulkan for me (or maybe I need to reduce just a tad from 'Shadows + Global Illumination' to just 'Shadows') Edit: just did a T16 semi-boosted, DirectX12 and only Shadows, everything else at max, and fps never went below 145fps. I guess if I wanted a true 165fps all-the-time I would need to lower another thing or two... :) Last edited by DiGG#5743 on Nov 8, 2023, 8:41:04 PM

" Yea the game need some serious work of optimization in your case having the top end of the hardware is just powering through bad optimization and yet you are just getting the normal FPS that people used to have before the engine patch which is unacceptable. As for me:
DX11 is outdated. Vulkan still crashes randomly when switching between two clients. DX12 is the only thing that left. It works, fps is bad but manageable. I'd rather use Vulkan if only they fix the crashes faster than two years after bugreport. |
