can't login without vpn

yesterday game was working allright and today i can't login while not using any vpn, contacted the ISP and they said there is no blocked traffic from them, don't know what to do

My first instinct when that happens is to do a full reset of your home network. Modem, Router, and then PC. Test again. If that doesn't help, if you have a second PC at home I would try it on there to rule out PC-specific issues.

If that doesn't help, next step would be to run WinMTR against PoE servers both with and without the VPN. It will trace network packets from your PC all the way to the server and identify any possible issues on the route like maybe one specific hop has issues and can be used by the ISP (good luck finding the first line tech who knows about that stuff) to fix it on their end. Seen it once where the one of the hops was some server room that caught on fire overnight and they had a higher level tech reroute them away from that node.

If a VPN fixed your problem then it's not a game or server problem, all a VPN dose is use a slightly different route to reach the same server, if you can't connect without then there is a problem somewhere down the line and your ISP would only test from them to you which can easily miss the problem.

3rd party antivirus with firewall blocking access?

don't have any antivirus/firewall besides windows defender thing

I have the same issue. Could it be the antivirus? Is it possible that it's somehow blocking connections on my Mac? I've had Avast installed for a long time. I read on https://setapp.com/how-to/antivirus-tips-for-mac that third-party antivirus programs should be better than the built-in ones. But mine seems to be causing me problems. Maybe I should look for another one?

There is an ongoing Cloudflare verification issue, but you don't mention if this is cloudflare related or not, so I'm guessing that isn't related.

If this is Cloudflare related, you might want to mention it. There are a number of posts over the past several months where people are unable to access the site. Cloudflare can block by ASN/IP blocks if they deem your ISP has a poor reputation score (internal reputation metrics not disclosed afaik).

Thanks for this post. Normally everything is rock solid but after facing "Failed to connect to instance" 20 times out of 40 today without a lot of other people complaining, I knew the servers weren't totally offline. Found this post and tried a VPN which worked 100%. Contacted my ISP about the IP addresses of some of the servers I cannot connect to (can be found in clients.txt) without VPN and they are working on fixing the issue on their end.
