upgraded a ring, now it wont let me equip 2 rings

i had an iron ring and a frosted coral ring of excitement both equipped. used an essence (forget the name but picked it up after defeating monsters in the submerged passage, that showed up the second time i was in that location after defeating dweller of the deep ) to upgrade the iron ring to a bramble band, now it will only let me equip one ring at a time. the second ring slot stays empty and it will just switch the other ring with the ring into the first ring slot. ive picked up new rings (which should auto equip to the open ring slot) and nothing happens. as far as i know you can equip 2 magic rings, so what gives? ive tried dropping/ re picking up the rings, equipping 2 new rings, unequipping all rings and portaling/logging out and back in, nothing works

Is this on PC? You can't just drag and drop a ring into the other slot?

Do you have enough attributes (intelligence, strength, dexterity) to equip the second ring? Lack of attributes can also render other gear unusable too.

all rings ive tried to equip have been fine for my stats (even picked up a regular iron ring and it didnt equip)

as far as the drag and drop i am on pc though i use a controller. i switched it in the main menu to mouse and YES it did let me equip, thank you for the input.

im still open to more suggestions as on controller i still have the problem, and i dont want to have to go to main menu every time i find a new ring, but as a temporary fix this should work, thank you for the help

I haven't used a controller before, but my guess is that you need to hold down another button first and then press your Equip button before it'll try equipping things in the second slot.

Swapping to controller for a moment, the button guide along the bottom shows "L3" for "Compare/More Options". While holding L3, "Equip" is replaced with "Equip Offhand", which will equip the ring to the other slot.
