Sacrifice up to half a stack of Cards to receive between 0 and twice that amount of the same Card.

I use this recipe in standard league and it is my first time.
I put 5 cards (the full stack is 11cards) and i clicked on the recipe.
My vivid lifeforce reduced 1500 pieces, but nothing happen. I still have 5 cards.
Is this a bug?

In my head, this recipe will either give me double or use up all cards and get nothing.

Any players experienced this before? Information is appreciated.

"Between 0 and twice that amount" is very different than "0 or twice that amount."

You rolled exactly halfway between 0 and twice the amount: the same amount.
