[SOLVED]Path of Exile completely ignores the Windows proxy settings
|
EDIT: The firewall wizards at my workplace got it to work (at least the patching, haven't connected to the game yet). Not sure why the process was originally shown as trying to connect directly to the server, but now that the required ports are open, it connects through the proxy.
ORIGINAL STORY: I access internet through a proxy at my workplace, and we're allowed/encouraged to play games during our lunch time. My Internet Explorer proxy settings are set to "Automatically detect settings", and several games such as World of Tanks, Diablo 3 and Tribes Ascend have no problem finding it. On the other hand PoE attempts to connect directly to the PoE server, which of course fails. It exits with an "unable to connect to patching server". I've double-checked this by looking at the network activity of those games and of my web browser with Process Monitor: all of them except PoE initiate network connections with the proxy, not with the IP address they ultimately want. I even tried to manually configure the proxy for a test (I can't do that permanently because we use various proxies depending on the IP address range), and PoE still ignores it. I'm on Windows 7 x64 Enterprise, btw. Last edited by Metamagic#0631 on May 30, 2012, 5:18:38 PM

Not sure about baniyaboss' problem, but those ports might be a step towards a solution. |
