Resurrections - Die and Live again in Multi-player! The ability to Revive.

The ability to resurrect another player in multiplayer games would be a great bonus to the game.

I think the ability to revive other players would be fun. Because it would mean that they'd have at least a "safety net" option especially if they're in a rough spot. Now I think that the ability to revive should be limited though.

For example, each player has the ability to revive another player once every 10 minutes something like that.

Once a player dies their ability to revive other players is set to half the cool-down of a used revive. That is 5 minutes.

The reason for this is so that players who are revived can not be used to revive other fallen party members. During a boss battle I could see that as a potential exploit.

So once you revive a party member - 10 minute cool-down on revive.

If you die - 5 minute cool-down on revive.

Also, the party member that was revived comes back to life with 50% health and mana. And maybe some other yet to be determined "effect" to make them weak for say 30 seconds.

I think this would boost the over-all co-op feel of the game and maybe make it more fun to play in the long run.

You could make that a skill gem I guess. It'd have to be tested pretty extensively so that it wasn't broken.

How long after a player has died could you still revive them? If it's too short then your party will be too busy fighting to revive you. If it's too long than the player may as well respawn back in town and teleport back to the battle. What does the dead player do in the meantime? I guess they could sit around and watch a countdown timer but that could be frustrating and waste precious seconds if your party is in a close battle.

I guess you could have a ten second timer after death during which your party can revive you. At any time the dead player can end the timer and respawn back in town. The could even check to see if anyone in the party has the revive skill. If no one does then it won't even give you the timer and just respawn you in town immediately.

I think that is why some games have retrieve your body or an NPC to revive you in town, but if you are in a party I do not see why you should be restricted if you need to be revived, maybe the timer should apply if the person is not in your party.
I read it on the internet, so it must be true!

Yes, that's basically the idea, that is -

Once a player dies they are given a short timer before they spawn in town or at a check point. The timer is like 10-20 seconds and can be skipped. During that timer they can be revived by another player.

Honestly I think revive should be a base-line skill that all classes get, essentially with its own cooldown. However, making it a gem would be acceptable.

Basically it's a multiplayer ability with the idea of fun co-op in mind more then anything.

Ability to respawn / be respawned on death location must have higher penalities than respawn in town.
