[Resolved] Possess monster drop scarab sextant not working
[bug id: 4,036,492,707]
I noticed that it felt like Scarabs weren't actually dropping when I use Torment scarabs so I tested this. Using Torment Scarab Sextant with Torment Scarab resulted in no tormented (rare or otherwise) mobs or (other mobs) dropped any scarabs. In the map device I used: - Sacrifice Fragment - Rusted Torment Scarab - Rusted Ambush Scarab - Rusted Divination Scarab Map Device Craft Selection: - 8% increased quantity of items found in this area Influence Selected: - Eater of Worlds Master Mission Selected: - None I cleared the entire map and checked every area by holding down alt to disable hiding of loot then checked again by turning off my loot filter (just to be sure). Several mobs were tormented as indicated by the little icon above them and the color shift. I also tested my loot filter by bringing some scarabs into the map and dropping them, to ensure it wasn't a loot filter problem. Here's the map mods. Showing both first 3 Possess monsters should drop rusted scarabs and that I added Here's my atlas passives: Note I'm not using any keystones or major notables that would block or change the behavior of the Scarabs, Torment mobs, or Sextants. And a screenshot when I noticed that none of the (Rare or otherwise) Torment/Possessed mobs I killed dropped any scarabs (and before I proceeded to clear the entire map). A final screenshot, showing 0 monsters remaining. Is this a bug or what am I doing wrong? Edit: I ran a near identical map set up and this worked as expected: Possessed mobs dropped rusted scarabs. Either I am doing something wrong or this is an intermittent bug? Edit 2: Confirmed, just because rare mobs have a green flare on them, doesn't mean they are in a possessed state. Giving mobs a few extra seconds to sort things out, seems to work more consistently. That kinda stinks, but it is what it is. The player needs to wait for the torment mob to not touch but also possess the rare mob, which is indicated vaguely by a green mod on the mob. Lame. Yet another unpaid Path of Exile 2 Alpha Tester. Tormented Spirits are not possessed monsters. You have to wait for the tormented spirit to possess a rare or unique monster. You're most likely killing all of the tormented spirits before they can possess anything, cause they act rather slowly, have a very limited seeking range for possession-eligible monsters, and have very low HP.
Try running a map or two with the Séance notable or roll the "Unique Bosses are Possessed" map mod and you'll see the difference. Last edited by DankusElkus#2875 on Feb 7, 2023, 12:28:36 PM

" That's what I thought I might be doing, hence the testing. I'm my testing I was waiting for the rare mobs to get possessed (they get the little green flare above their head). Perhaps I need to wait even longer? Is it possible for rare mobs to be torment-afflicted but not reach a possessed state? Yet another unpaid Path of Exile 2 Alpha Tester. The green flare about the head is to indicate non-rare monsters have been touched.
Tormented Spirits will have an animation where they dive into a Rare/Unique monster, after which the possessed monster will have a different indicator. I think it's something like 3 connected green dots floating around the monster? |

" Yeah it needs a green mod on the mob to be present. Which means (without atlas passives) sitting and waiting and hoping the mob gets possessed before doing anything. Oh well. Yet another unpaid Path of Exile 2 Alpha Tester. Last edited by TwentyFiveEX#7096 on Feb 7, 2023, 12:53:07 PM
