Fractured Items?

Hello,
I just jumped back into PoE after being off for a solid 2+ years. I am slowly getting the handle of all the new things in the game, and are doing atlas runs now, but I have no idea about fractured items.
I know I need the Synthesizer, from in some dream nexus, but I don't see anything in the game right now that comes close to that. So is this still in the game, or do I need to go somewhere specific to get this?
Is it just not used in the synthesizer now, but in something else like the crafting bench?

Yes, I know, people have talked about it, but I can't find an answer for them and how to use them after the league.

There's no synthesizer or dream nexus anymore. Haven't been since synthesis league.

Monsters can drop fractured items. There's also fracturing orbs that you can get from Harbingers... but they're extremely rare.

So you can't do anything with the fractured items now to make them into a fractured piece/gem?

No.
You can use them as good crafting bases though

That really sucks, I guess I get it in some way.
