To answer the granite vs basalt at least the granite will do more at lesser amounts of armor whereas the basalt will be more effective at higher armor amounts since it is a more multiplier.

Most builds dont have near as much armor as yours so granite will be more effective for them.
Right, but i think most Lvl100 players on PoE Ninja nows that.
So i thought there might be another reason.

Flask has a legacy mod?
~ I have selective hearing, and today, you have not been selected.
I dont even know what that is.

Its this one:
Suffix of the Abalone 6 (41-45)% increased Armour during Flask effect

I also found this:
Thickened +(83-100)% increased Armour 3.0.0 Range changed to +(68-79)% increased Armour.

Impregnable +(121-132)% increased Armour 3.0.0 Range changed to +(92-100)% increased Armour.

So seems it was legacy and changed in 3.0
But what does that mean?
Can i drops such flask?
And when i do, how can i now when it has different mods?

Legacy mod means it was available for rolling before and is no longer available since some patch.
You can still purchase such a flask from other player but you can't get it any other way.
I found a flask i want to buy.
First i check in PoB and it shows: +72.974 Armour when i replace my flask with it.

But when i equip it, my 174.000 Armour just went up 4k to 178.000
Why is that?

It shows the added value for the flasks, not a replacement value. Set that flask slot to inactive, then compare the numbers it gives for each flask in the tooltip with your non-flasked armor in the sidebar. The numbers it spits out should be accurate when you re-activate the flask slot for either flask.
I have a pretty good sense of humor. I'm not German.
The flasks are always active because of mageblood.
Thats the way i compare items from day 1.

But to be sure i tested it.

Just copied my flask, changed the increased armour to 100% and it worked as expected.

175,xxk + 31,xxk = 207k

edit:
Tested it again multiple times with other flasks from tradeside.
All basalts work as intended, problem only occurs when switching from basalt to granite.
Which is expected to a degree because of the +1500 vs 20% more calculation.
But it should be calculated the same on the forecast and the actuall value when equipped.

Seems like a PoB bug.

Looks like now you're comparing Basalt Flask to Basalt Flask, instead of Basalt to Granite like you were before. That's going to give you numbers more in line with what you expect. The increased armor value is the only thing that changes there, and PoB will do that just fine.

When swapping between Granite and Basalt though, that means you're swapping between +1500 armor and 20% more armor. It's no longer a simple values change, and it mucks things up. Only way to get an accurate comparison is with the flasks deactivated first.

Not saying it should be that way, just that it is. Could be a bug in the implementation, an oversight, or a conscious decision on their part for some reason.

Check here to see if anyone has brought up similar complaints before. If not, put in a ticket.

Edit: Based on your last edit, looks like you've got the idea behind what's going on. This just isn't the right place for dealing with whether it's a bug or not... :)
