Can I six(6)-link an item by scroll-clicking orbs of fusing, or will I scroll right past it?

Nothing I find on the internet seems to answer this question. Many sources seem to suggest there was a time in PoE when orbs of fusing simply could not be used on items that were 6-linked, but that I am informed that this is no longer the case.

Fusings will stop working on an item as soon as you hit 6 links. They have worked that way since the game launched.
I have a pretty good sense of humor. I'm not German.

Right. It doesn't matter HOW you click. You could click while singing the National anthem in a tub of pudding with a peice of meat as your mouse.
You CAN NOT "go right past" a 6-link. Period, end of story, do not pass go, do not collect $200. As was ALREADY said. 5 socket 5 links and 6 socket six links are something you can not "go past", it either happens or it doesn't and when it does happen, you can't continue. If you are still concerned, go to Standard and grab any 6L that you own. Now try to scroll click a fuse past it.
