Xsolla - game protection from spending money
Was planning to purchase some extra tabs, but luckily game stopped me from that move.
Tried two cards and on both got error till finally they were blocked. Seems to be GGG chose Xsolla operator, who helps players save their money. Good job.. :/ Anyone else have similar issue or its not common problem? Last edited by _kerber_#5664 on Oct 29, 2022, 7:01:01 AM Last bumped on Nov 6, 2022, 3:47:35 AM

yeah my card was flagged and i got a call from my bank. havent purchased anything since.
however majority of players have no issue so GGG will not change from xsolla. Last edited by Lyutsifer665#1671 on Oct 29, 2022, 7:03:54 AM

" could it be a "browser extension" you have installed that prevented a pop-up window or something like that. I assume you are NOT from a region where there is international sanctions active at the moment ? Also what cards are we talking about (Master card / Visa / xx credit or debit card ?). |

" i've never had a similar problem, my visa is work fine. You got some problem with your bank account, or are you just a liar! |

" ive had this issue happen just from ordering some pc stuff off best buy just because it hasnt happened to you doesnt mean that it doesnt to anybody else and the guy is lying. i mean if you start ordering lots of stuff from random sites, especially if you havent used your credit card in a while, you can pretty much expect to get an automated call or two before they allow any more charges to go through. its like some kind of fraud protection but its more of an inconvenience to the end user. especially if youre travelling abroad and you forget to notify your credit card company in advance. " Man, where do you live?, what credit card do you use?, how is it possible that someone restricts you in any way from spending your money? |

" That is "per default" of some banks and their credit cards. You have to specificly ask them to allow certain company groups like --> online gaming and so on before it will work. Same goes for region blocking. it all depends on the bank / credit card company so it's not unheard of..... |

The first couple of times I purchased anything through Xsolla my CC provider flagged the purchase as a fraud risk. Lots of fraudulent transactions and refunds go through Xsolla.
Different CC companies have different risk thresholds and different fraud-catching algorithms, and it's common for those with stricter standards to not accept their transactions without manual verification with the card holder. - here's my sig

Use the Steam client (or Karma Koin gift cards, if you can find those) & you will never have to deal with xSolla.
You don't need to use Steam gift cards unless you don't want to tie your card to Steam. You don't even have to tie your card details to Steam, that's opt-in (ticked by default!) Last edited by bvanharjr#5617 on Oct 30, 2022, 1:56:17 AM

Yes I've had problems with them in the past, back when GGG first moved from Stripe to Xsolla.
My bank immediately cancelled my card due to the suspected fraud action. Primarily because Xsolla is widely known in credit circles for significant volumes of charge backs and claims of fraudulent purchases, mostly when some 13 year old kid takes Mum's credit card to pay for loot boxes without her permission. Basically they have a massive red flag against them as being very high risk for credit providers. Additionally it was my first time purchasing anything from their service and they were located internationally when my recent purchase history made it clear I wasn't in that country. All standard risk indicators that credit companies use to try and identify potentially fraudulent action on your card. Five years ago Chris said they were going to be bringing Stripe back as a processor due to the large amount of negative feedback about Xsolla, however that never amounted to anything and so we're stuck with Xsolla. https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/7ecs25/comment/dq4ilsn/ That's unfortunate for GGG, as they haven't had a red cent from me since. |
