About Deadly Ailments Support

Hi

About Deadly Ailments Support

There are such phrazes in discription to gem

Supported Skills deal (30-44)% more Damage with Ailments
Supported Skills deal 80% less Damage with Hits

I know that ailments is calculated from direct damage.

Using this gem - POE calculates ailment after lessening direct damage or before?

If calculation is made after lessening direct damage then ailment will be so small....

the hit and ailment are drawn from the same base damage but are scaled independently so the hit being reduced doesn't effect the ailment in this case at all.

So in deadly ailments case the hit portion is 80% less, but the ailment portion is 44% more - if you are an ailment focused build the hit is usually pretty irrelevant.

This is also why things like projectile damage don't scale ailments because it only modifies the hit portion.

Thanks
Its really annoying that they didnt change [projectile] and [attack] to include the word hit.

Like you just have to know that "elemental damage with attack skill" increases elemental ailments, but "projectile damage" doesnt include ailments from the projectile.

How would anyone ever intuit that?

It would have been super easy to add "ailment" and "hit" to everything they apply to. The code has to do that, behind the game. Why not just specify that clearly?
