Abnormal disconnect: An unexpected disconnection occurred.
Hey there,
Since three days i have a really weird problem : One in three login attempt to the game result to an Abnormal disconnect Here is an example of what is happening : " I have played many other game and everything work fines It's been 3 days i'm searching in the forum or reddit and i have tryied many things : - Restart my game - Restart my livebox - Reset my livebox - Open Ports - Scan 1000 times my PC for virus, tracker etc .. - Try any server in the game - Reset my hideout - Try multiple accounts - Close all the backgrounds apps i can find - Uninstall POE on a new SSD or in a new HDD - Delete cache - Use poecheck.exe - Tryied Vulkan / DX11 / DX12 - Turn off/on Vsync - Turn off fire wall of my PC and of my Router - Turn off my Antivirus But every time the same 1 in 3 error When i can login, i can enter the game and i can play for a as long as i want, but once i want to go back to char select or login screen, the game freeze (like there is still animation but i cant move anymore) and i have to alt F4 so i'm guessing it's a matter of connecting and disconnecting to the instance I have done many winMTR here is some examples : " BUT ! When i try to use a VPN or to use my internet phone, everything work perfectly, i can connect and discconnect as much as i want I have contacted my ISP (Orange) and there is nothing wrong on their side Should i try to reset my PC ? Please help :( Last bumped on Nov 8, 2022, 8:46:16 AM

there is a pretty stable 15 seconds delay from the server accepting you and kicking you again.
how it works: you connect to the server, the server sends you details about the area you are gonna join, the client loads all the assets for that area from the local resource file and sends the server the ok message and your input. if the server doesn't hear anything from you after he sent you the details, he kicks you. once you successfully loaded the area, the timeout for a kick is "6 seconds of your client sending no data", at the beginning it's a bit longer but ggg never specified how long. it's between 6 seconds and the end of the "grace period" of 20? seconds which covers the time between your client loading assets and you finally playing so no monster can hurt you. -- if you're still using a harddisk, try to defragment it and use scandisk to check it for errors. and consider moving your poe install to a ssd. also, uninstall everything that slows down your machine, most people got rid of their antivirus software when it became public that they sell your data. use microsofts defender and setup a exception for poe so it doesn't scan the resoure loading process. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

Just did a scandisk and the problem continue,
But i dont think it's a matter of hardware since it's full working with a VPN Or maybe i'm wrong i dont know |

" The answer is here. Since it works using VPN then 100% confirmed to be an ISP issue. My guess is that the reset your public IP / then connection on your public IP, use a proxy system or have a bad peering point interferring with your traffic. This is why ot works without problems when you use a VPN because you then bypass this 100%. So nothing to do with your pc and nothing GGG can do about it. |

" This is exactly the conclusion i have made But why is it working 2 times in 3 and sometimes i have an error ? Any idea of what i can tell to my ISP ? |

sorry, i missed the "isp" part.
to diagnose the problem, you have to find out where the packets are dropped and if your pc is sending the information in the first place. it could still be your virus scanner having a online module that drops packets it deems suspicious and using a vpn encrypting this data before the virus scanner can scan it (don't know exactly if it works that way). but my hint would be to temporarily uninstall the virus scanner (not just deactivate it). -- you did try using another game server in the login screen, did you? age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

another hint to debug a faulty connection is to download and start tcpview from microsoft.
using the tool shows you the ip address your client connects to for 15 seconds (until it disconnects you) and if there is data going in either direction. also, you can write down the ip address and do a winmtr against it while you play and get disconnected. -- if you're more technically advanced, you can also analyse the data connection with wireshark. it shows you if there is any data going and which side actually does the disconnect. age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

I did actually reset all my PC and POE was the first thing i download (even before chrome) and yeah the problem is still there

I take it that you're in France soupline? I'm also on Orange, and recently I've been having the same problem, requiring multiple tries to connect ...
I'm guessing something's off on the side of Orange ... it started on the 28th for me. |
