You need some kind of pierce source - item mod, passive skill or support gem.

So say you have an attack that does projectiles that deal cold, and you use a claw to deal damage and have a shield.
Attack damage Elemental damage Cold Damage Projectile Damage Claw Damage Attack damage while holding a shield Global damage Penetration to enemy elemental resist or cold resit +critical strike chance to claws +crit multiplier to claws or attacks or cold or general All help increase damage. Also getting flat +x damage to attacks will increase. |

and what dose projectiles damage depends on ?
thank you for detailed reply but i don't think i explained my question correctly : what dose projectiles damage consists of? what is it ? dose it depends on the weapon damage or the skill ? or is it a value on its own and how do we measure it ? you understand what i mean ? " It is a good question, but there isn't a short sentence answer to scaling different types of dmg. In your case - Frost Blades - scales from your weapon dmg (Each skill has a modifier how effective flat added dmg is). Frost blades has a portion of melee damage (which is scaled by weapon dmg, cold dmg, physical dmg and similar but also modifiers to melee dmg) and a portion of projectile dmg (the projectiles fly from your targets to other targets and are scaled the same way as the melee hit, except modifiers to melee don't scale this part but modifiers to projectile dmg do. I see you frost blades duelist in your profile, and while you are on the right track to ask how to scale your damage better, there really is a lot to know. The POE Wiki answers a lot of questions already https://www.poewiki.net/wiki/Frost_Blades but if you are overwhelmed by complicated formulas, I suggest looking for a detailed video or written build guide to understand the underlying basics if you want to proceed into the more endgame part of the game after the campaign. Once you understand the basics, the game becomes a lot less complicated and the campaign easier. Always feel free to ask here, but some questions are (if not specific) too big to be answered in a simple sentence. Last edited by R3b00t#3591 on Sep 29, 2022, 9:27:08 AM

Short answer is attacks are based on weapon damage + flat attack damage added.
Spells are based on their own damage listed, and flat spell damage added. Lets say your weapon does 100 damage. Frost blades does 100% to 175% of this value, as the gem levels up. Frost blades also adds 113 damage. Lets say you are at max, so 175%. So with no other skills or talents, frost blade projectiles do (100+113)*1.75 = 372 So now lets add some skills, they give 30% increased claw damage 20% increased attack damage 20% more attack damage 25% more elemental damage Now the skill does 372 * (1 + increased damage) * More damage source1 * more damage source 2 372 * (1.5) * 1.2 *1.25 = 837 The cold portion of this is then checked against target cold resist, and the physical portion is checked against their physical damage reduction. |
