More than 100% Convert Physical to Fire?
I am planning Purifying Flame next league. It only has 40% physical converted to fire. I need to figure out the next 50%. I see one of the Masteries offers 40%. That leaves 10%. Is it worth it to find items to make up the rest of the 10%?
Any point in having over 100% conversion? More damage or nothing? Last bumped on May 7, 2022, 1:19:28 PM

Nope. Nothing happens when you are over 100% conversion.

Yeah conversion is capped at 100%. One notable interaction is if you have different types, having over 100% total will change the ratio. So if you have 100% phys to fire and 50% phys to cold, you end up with ~66% phys to fire and ~33% phys to cold. This means some abilities with more than 1 conversion (like wave of conviction) can slightly benefit from having extra conversion over 100% if one doesn't care about the other damage type.

It is worth noting that you can still gain physical damage as extra fire damage, which is not capped.
It is essentially the same as conversion except that it leaves the physical damage afterwards (or to be converted to another damage type, which in your case would be fire). |

If you're self-casting PF and you leave any unconverted physical damage, you'll probably die in physical reflect maps. If you're using rare gloves, I'd suggest either the bench craft for phys to fire, or the Eater of Worlds implicit (the weakest one is still 10%, so you can use the cheap ichors). Or you could just take Avatar of Fire if it's convenient, or use Xoph's Blood.

You could use
"An it harm none, do what you will"

Ok thanks. I just need 10% more for conversion. 40% from mastery. I didn't know about Divergent Added Fire. I only looked into awaken added fire.
So if I convert 100% physical to fire, is there any other benefits? It will be a trap build. I heard about "double dipping" from conversion. For a Purifying Flame, the goal is to stack up Fire damage right? |

"Double dipping" only occurs with chains of conversion combined with "extra" damage.
Say you have 100% phys -> fire, 100% fire -> chaos, and 100% non-chaos as extra chaos. This will result in 300% damage, not 200%, since the non-chaos as extra chaos would benefit from both the physical and fire, despite the ability not actually ever dealing fire damage. Украина в моём сердце

for the last 20% use a crafted glove prefix(20-25% or EoW implicit(grand+ is 20% or higher)
if you invest a bit more you can do veiled + high tier implicit and skip the mastery(this will cost alot more) |

"Since you're using traps, you don't need to worry about damage reflection, but the advantage of full conversion is that you can scale all your damage the same way. If you have increased/more fire/elemental damage, or you cursed the target with Flammability or covered it in ash, the unconverted physical part of the skill misses out on those bonuses. Although Divergent AFD is an option, one thing to be aware of is that the gem itself isn't a great damage multiplier compared to more multipliers from e.g. Inspiration or Elemental Damage with Attacks supports, or the +1 gem level you'd get from Awakened AFD. Make sure to check Path of Building to make sure you aren't losing damage to the gem swap. |
