Bossing Nodes feel bad
I specced fully into the bossing nodes on the tree.
Maven Elder+Shaper Synthesis Sirus + connected maps and Map Boss drops I ran this for about a week now. I found 0 Synth maps I mostly find elder/shaper maps but nothing for sirus. Mavens loottable is really bad and i am (seems so) pretty unlucky with mavens orb because i found one in like 15 mavens with full tree. Alch and go with strongbox harbinger and aome scarabs is way more lucrative. Thanks for listening Last edited by Senfgurke#0556 on Mar 1, 2022, 4:54:14 AM Last bumped on Mar 2, 2022, 4:12:57 AM

The sythnesis stuff feels pretty underwhelming, I got more maps from the cards than I got form the map bosses themselves.

I am thinking, that the boss nodes should be just made a part of base game "by default" and the atlas should focus on all the side mechanics.
Especially when you have no free respec or multiple presets of the atlas passives. Ultimately making a choice leaves bad aftertaste - I specced Harbingers, Essences, Alva, some June, some map sustain, connected Harvest and went up for the Synth / Shaper Guardian maps No point doing legion in a map. Nothing drops from it. No point doing Einhar, I just skip the mobs unless collateral damage takes them, Delve .... Delve nodes seems bad as they were before, no change there. Skipping blight, breaches, abysses. It is hard to flip mindset from completionist to single purpose farming bot. But I guess that's where the game's at. Also, got 1 synth map in 2 weeks :) I represent only myself, my own thought and believes. I am individual, not a representative of the community.
I am not speaking on behalf of someone else and I don't get offended by things that have nothing to do with me. 3.13 was the golden age. |

" Yep, which is why I can't compel myself to make a pure bossing tree. I've settled instead on Maven and Shaper/Elder tree plus several league encounters so I can enjoy running a juiced guardian map before fighting the boss. Helps to prevent burnout from rushing straight to boss by adding variety. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.
Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish. |

So i ran 100 Tier 16 Maps
20% Qual Alch and go I managed to fight 10-Way Maven 11 Times From map bosses i got: Synthesis Maps: 0 Elder Guardian Maps: 8 ( one is duplicated) Shaper Guardian Maps: 5 Elderslayer Maps: 3 (one is Duplicated) Atlas invitation 10 way: 11 From the 11 * 10 Way Maven fights i got: 17 Crescent Splinter 4 Shaper Guardian Maps 6 Elderslayer Maps 8 Elder Maps 12 Orb on Unmaking 3 Disdain 1 Awakened Gem Note that all invitations had 70%+ quant rolled on them My Atlas gives me: - 3% Chance for Elder Guardian Maps to drop from map bosses - 3% Chance for Shaper Guardian Maps to drop from map bosses -1.5% Chance for a Synthesis Map to drop Is it worth it? I don't think so. I especially find the crescent splinter drop rate in 10 Way's way to little, i even got 20% more Crescent Splinters and +2 Monster Level. |

playing back on std i've experimented a whole damn lot with the atlas.
from my personal experience, anything to do with chance can be very weak. its like buying a lottery ticket on top of another lottery ticket. if you win, you have a chance to win more. if you dont win, you get nothing. hence dumping points on bossing nodes (excluding the ones that makes map bosses have better rarity) can feel weak is they're only good if you keep doing those bosses. keeping a ton of exarch/eater invites before running them back to back is a good strategy to employ however if you're just running maps in general and just hoping for things to trigger... its not that worth it. i personally invested my atlas to make mapping feel better in general and used some points to "fix" league mechanics, such as make alva temple room choice feel more impactful, rituals always having 4 altars etc. i dont heavily invest in their "chance to occur", rather "when they occur they benefit from this/that". i heavily invested in harbinger and strongboxes tho as some of the passives make them occur every map. ggg probably should rebalance the atlas. in anycase i m having a blast just playing std doing random maps. My atlas tree is also focused on bosses.
I played way too much since league start and have found 3 synthesis maps and 2 Al-Hezmin.... maybe GGG wants us to buy maps and finance the buying costs with the loot (I guess) “Human decency is not derived from religion. I haven't done nearly as much rigorous testing as OP has, but since I saw this thread it's been in the back of my mind and I've been paying more attention. With zero boss passives allocated, I get quite a few Shaper and Elder guardian maps from random T16 bosses. It seems to be around one in every 10 maps, which lines up with OP's number tracking. So if we assume my (admittedly small) sample is somewhat representative, it means players have about a 10% chance of getting Shaper/Elder maps without ANY passive investment, and only up to 13% with full passive investment.
That's... a pretty weak improvement, really doesn't seem worth it to me. And even if I'm on a hot streak and the actual chances are in the 6-8% range, bringing that up to about 10 is still pretty bad. I'd take generic 1% quant nodes over that any day. Hopefully these nodes get some love in the next big patch, I was looking forward to doing a completely different Atlas passive spec each league and going all-in on bosses is an idea that definitely appeals to me. But I just can't justify giving up stuff like "harbingers kick out full exalts" for something which has only a negligible improvement from the baseline drop rate. |
