Why is the atlas passive tree account wide

I wanna boss on my champion and speed map on my raider. Have to pay 100+ chaos just to swap between playstyles on two different characters when this is a "passive tree" makes no sense

+1 on different atlas trees between characters
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

I think the only way this would ever possibly happen is if they made the entire Atlas and its progression per character instead of account wide. Atlas passives are simply too rewarding for them to make it easy for us to max out multiple scenarios, or even every scenario, without a notable barrier to doing so. The other alternative would likely be across the board nerfing of the passives, and I'd hate to see that happen.

I wouldn't mind per character Atlas myself, but if not that there would definitely be some other kind of gating. There's no way they make it progress once then customize freely per character for this. That's just not their way.

Giving you full Atlas customization on every character without any kind of investment on each char is a bit beyond simply being QoL. I definitely get the appeal as a player, but it would be a really bad idea from a design perspective. It's basically the new (very) big thing in PoE, most likely the biggest thing we'll see until 4.0, and it would instantly be trivialized. Our choices won't matter because we could just do whatever without cost or consequence, and especially so since a good chunk of players now can bring a character to mapping level in a matter of hours.

I wouldn't mind seeing it happen, but I'm fully aware of why it won't. At least not in the way people are wanting it to happen, for sure.

Would be very WTF if atlas is not league-wide

(note that it is not account wide. I wish my SSF and HC SSF and new temp league leech my permanent SC progress)

IWouldn't that negate the whole purpose of choosing what to enhance on the tree? You dont' have to make difficult choices on what to do if you can swap freely between preset trees. You do three different trees, each feature 2-3 different mechanics, and swap freely between them means you can cover most things you might want to run at any time. If you want to run a delve mission, switch to the delve tree, then switch to a tree with legion built out when you want to use that mechanic off the map device. If you can swap trees on the fly to enhance whatever mechanic you're activating on a map, the atlas tree becomes massively OP.
The Atlas passive tree is tied to the Atlas completion.
Atlas completion is per account and league - each character in a particular league on an account shares the same atlas: so it makes sense that they share the same Atlas passives.

So if you really want a new Atlas passive tree, you have to have a separate Atlas completion (even if you run the exact same maps), so you'll have to level on an alt account.

As others have said, the alternative would be far too powerful. As it is you can raise a second character on your main account and it inherits the Atlas bonuses without any extra work - if it instead got a load of passive points to assign differently that would be very OP.

i like it the way it is
it gives regret and unmaking orbs a good value even though those these drop a lot

on good rolled maps i often end up with 4-5 unmaking orbs,i even had 12 droping from 1 strongbox

the only thing that is really anoying is doing the respect,clicking for every point is kinda bad
