Graphic Glitch/Artifacts
Hey there,
so since this league start I have been experiencing some kind of graphic glitches/artifacts like in this picture: https://imgur.com/a/TFXy6VB If needed, I can provide the full video of this. Those glitches last for about half a second and it does not matter if its a dungeon-like map or a map in the open. It`s like a lightning just goes through the screen and it`s gone again, but this happens all the time, like every 5-10 seconds. In the hideout its not that frequent, but it still happens. What I have tried so far: - delete cache/files of PoE - clean install of Poe - clean install of Windows 10 - clean install of gpu-driver - different settings in the nvidia control-panel (refresh-rate, colors, vsync, capped fps, etc.) - different graphic settings in PoE (details, renderer, resolution, hyper-threading) - no mtx on my character - verifying PoE files None of the above helped in any way. This is purely a PoE-issue, since all my other games work perfectly fine (e.g. Red Dead Redemption 2). As stated above, it also does not matter if I use Vulkan or dx11 - it still produces the same glitches/artifacts. It does not matter if XMP is enabled or not, same with the gpu whether its undervolted or not. CPU is running at stock so this cant be the problem too. System: Windows 10 i7 12700K RTX 3080 DDR4 - 3600 Overheating is also not an issue, since nothing runs warmer than 60c. Does anybody have a solution to this? Last bumped on Feb 12, 2022, 7:35:55 AM

I don't have a solution, but got the same issue like you. I tried similar steps to get rid off it. But I see a connection:
I did build a new system with similar hardware like you. I7 12700K Rtx 3080 32 GB DDR4 3600 MSI Pro Z690 a I even tried my old 1080 Ti with the same results. Therefor PoE just don't like our hardware. Hopefully somebody can help us. |

Have the exact same issue on my GTX 1660, so maybe it's Nvidia-related. Looks like some random polygons flying out of the middle of the screen for half a second. Only happens in PoE, and seems like it started this league, because I don't remember it happening before. Sometimes it happens once per map, sometimes it happens multiple times in a short burst (that just happened in the beginning of a Grotto map).

3 Possibilities.
1. GPU video ram issue (replace card) 2. GPU burning up (check temps, see what's what) 3. Corrupted installation (reinstall and wipe every piece of the game left behind) There are also occasional (rather rare) issues with shader caches getting corrupted. No rest for the wicked.

same setup (i7 12700K/3080) and same problem here...

" If you wanted to contribute then you should have read the whole post. All of the steps above had been taken care of, but the problems remained. My temps were never above 60, every other game and benchmar ran without any problems and I also reinstalled shaders as well as the whole game (PoE). I did get it fixed though, I just don`t know what exactly was the thing that fixed it. What I did was... - since I really wanted to use Win11 with my new system and I only installed Win10 for PoE, because I experienced a lot of crashes with my first install of Win11, I went on and just re-installed Win11...so clean install again, was the 3rd time in 2 days :D - re-updated my BIOS from the last stable version to the newest beta-Bios from MSI. - I noticed that the fast-boot function of either Windows or my Motherboard was creating some problems, so I turned both off. Does not make any difference anyway and my system runs very smooth now. - I used to change the letters of my harddrives to be in certain order. This time I did not touch them at all. Maybe this also did something, but I cant tell for sure. Now I can run my system with XMP enabled, also with Win11 and I don`t have any problems anymore. Before that I also had errors which were displayed in Windows, but alway related to PoE. So make sure to check the reliability monitor and the event viewer for possible hardware/driver errors. This at least pointed me to the right direction and since my clean install without fast boot everything runs perfectly without any errors at all. I`d also recommend to update the Bios, if using the new z690 chipset. Since the new Bios are not that stable and can produce quite some errors, maybe this also fixed some problems for me. I just went from the newest beta-bios to the version before that and then back to the newest one. Yes, I was desperate to find a solution :D So no graphic glitches or artifacts anymore =) Occassionally my PoE crashes, but sadly enough this is a "normal" thing for PoE to do every now and then. Had about 2-3 Crashes in 5 days while playing a lot of hours (50+). I hope this helps some of you. |

" As I was recently battling blue screen issues (apparently caused by a driver installed by a network monitoring program), I can say it's not the Windows' fast boot, as I disabled it. Doubt it's the drive letters either (as we all probably have PoE on different drives). Can't be motherboard BIOS either, since it seems to happen on a variety of motherboards, from different manufacturers too. Yesterday I was trying to fix another issue (the game freezing for a second when a Soul Conduit monster dies), and in the process I deleted every shader cache folder. All the game folder ones, the one in AppData\Roaming. And it seemed like it fixed these graphical glitches too in the process. But today they're back. So I was wondering if the shader cache gets corrupted at some point. Continue monitoring, and if it comes back, it's probably the shader cache (which you deleted while reinstalling Windows). |
