Until PoE2: Rework Jeweller's Orbs
A big nuisance right now is lacking sockets while leveling.
You got the gear on you wanna wear. Finding upgrades that also have more sockets is unlikely. Now imagine if Jeweller's Orbs just added a socket to the item. Increase their rarity to compensate. Not really even asking for help/buffs here, cuz I get through the campaign fine as is. But some people could use the campaign-help and it really doesn't change anything for the endgame, where you're bathing in 6-socketed items anyway. On that note, change 6-socketed items to 1 Jeweller's Orb, ofc. If Fusings did the same, it would add a hell of a lot of power. Not asking for that one. Last bumped on Jan 31, 2022, 3:30:09 AM

I suggested pretty much the same thing a while ago, though applied to chromatic and fusing orbs as well. simply make the results predictable and lower the drop chance to compensate. but nope orbs have to have a high drop rate and low success rate, because poe has to have a deliberately irritating socket system for some reason.

...do you not realize that if jeweler orbs were guaranteed to add a socket, they'd be rarer than exalts and the vendor recipe wouldn't exist?
Because one-clicking 5 sockets into 6 sockets is literally HUNDREDS of jewellers in value, so the drop rate would go down 3 whole orders of magnitude. You would not find them while leveling, and if you did you wouldn't use them on your current gear. The solution you're suggesting makes the problem you're trying to solve worse. |

" I'm not saying the current system doesn't have significant problems, especially where coloring sockets is concerned. I'm just saying that anyone bothering to write up a suggestion should probably spend 10 whole seconds using their brain first, maybe ask if their solution makes any sense at all. |

Nah, if the game is balanced around people having max links on gear, than the game should give them 6 links for basically free. Losing because you can't find a 6linked piece of gear that you need to equip to meet a damage threshold is ass design.

Shouldn't PoE2 have a totally different concept for sockets where you don't have to add sockets to every item?

The problem is real: During leveling sockets > any item stats. People would rather wear white 4-linked item from lvl 30 to 68 than some good dropped unique with 1 green socket which you can't roll or craft because of lacking currency you find as you level.
I don't think this was intended by GGG from the start. It has to be reviewed. How? Well, I bet GGG can figure it out, they only need to notice this problem. PoE nowadays looks more and more like a fork server with tons of custom weird experimental stuff rather than original game with carefully thought out balance brough live to players.
