Projectile speed, bows.
For bows, is the "(42–46)% increased Projectile Speed" modifier a "good" modifier? (As good as, for example, the "122% increased Physical Damage" mod.)
As I understand so far, for some low-speed spell projectiles, especially which has a (short) finite lifetime, "increased Projectile Speed" mod is good. Has a huge effect. But, aren't the bow projectiles already fast enough? Haven't the bow projectiles inifinite lifetime? Has "increased Projectile Speed" any prosilient effect? Last bumped on Jan 23, 2023, 9:46:45 AM

Indeed, since we don't have an arrow attack that "pulses" or that gets bonus while it has not landed, there is no bonus on having a very slow arrow. If any, you can consider it similiar to a second attack speed: not only you will have to account the draw-and-release of the bow, but also the time the arrow takes in landing on its target - and if it takes too much time, the target may move enough to dodge it.
That said, having a lot of projectile speed won't increase your "maximum range", or hit further offscreen. Since Prophecy Leage (2.2 or something), all Projectiles are capped at a maximum travel distance of 150 Units (this was done because of Spork build abuse back then). Whether your arrow will take a nanosecond or 5 minutes is not really important per se. In order to prompt players in build overcapped projectile speed, 3.17 will release a Bow Mastery that makes Projectile Damage being affected also by Projectile Speed. This way you won't get more "range" with your arrows, but you can count on an extra source of Increased Damage |

That bow mastery you are referring to is Arrow Speed, not Projectile Speed. Arrow Speed currently has very few ways of scaling.

" Actually, arrow speed is projectile speed that applies to arrows: Mark quote |

" Yes I know this. Now please reread the thread as you clearly have missed the context to my reply to OP. |

" My understanding is that the node will work with increases to projectile speed since those also affect arrows. |

" Do you realize how horrendously overpowered that is? You can very easily get a few hundred percent projectile speed if you invest into it, so that one mastery would give you a crapload of generic increased damage. Given they specifically named it Arrow Speed (which is a subset of projectile speed), why would your understanding be that? As is, if you get Master Fletcher and the new quiver, you'd have 50% Arrow Speed, which is already a strong bonus for 1 point of mastery. |

" If you read the link provided above Mark_GGG states the mastery will affect projectile speed. From the patch notes: " Last edited by el_indio#0378 on Jan 27, 2022, 9:30:09 PM

" I stand corrected then. That's mind blowing that they would do that especially because it's generic damage, which means Toxic Rain will be way more busted than it already is. |

" I don't really like the mastery system, It's a massive boost for some builds, a lot of power in a single point, whilst promoting less efficient pathing in other builds if they really need a mastery, and made jewels like thread of hope much less useful. |
