Currency auto pickup option, why not?
I’m a console player and played Diablo 2 Ressurrection on PlayStation and the option of auto gold pickup is amazing.
And, why not give this option on PoE? Of course PoE don’t have gold but tons of currency itens and, as such, everyone occupies a inventory space and this can make the things frustrating when you can’t pickup a good item just because your inventory is full of cheap currency. On the other hand, even after 3.16 the amount of clicking (Or button press on console) to get currency is plentiful. But since PoE has item filter, the auto pickup option could take only the visible currency. Last bumped on Oct 31, 2021, 12:06:11 PM

Bots mainly. But they're able to pick up anyway, so that's not a great reason. Think they have this idea that it feels better to play without it.
If the game automates too much, it starts to feel like the player isn't interacting with it. They're going in the right direction with the stacking. Common stuff, like wisdom scrolls, should drop 1/10 as often but in stacks of 10. Mabye even 100 in maps. As the currency gets more and more rare, that should drop off... even to the point of dropping shards more often. That would take out some of the varience on the rare end. I'm glad they started stacking currency.

I want autopick.
Still far too many clicks in the game. It's literally painful AND pointless. 8 years to get currency stacks. 8 more years to get autopick? |

The idea is that if something drops and you automatically pick it up and automatically deposit it in some bank then you no longer really notice it as a drop and stop paying attention to when you get it. You kill a boss or open a chest and have nothing to pick up and start to feel like you aren't getting anything. This is the argument the devs have made anyway.
I don't really agree with that concept, I don't think people are that oblivious, especially not the players of this game. If you think about it, that's how exp works, and people have understood exp mechanics and been able to notice how rewarding things are for leveling for decades. I think the real reason is that so little of value drops in this game other than the 4000 different types of currency that if players no longer had to click to loot them then most players wouldn't be looting much of anything in a game that's supposed to be about loot. The devs would rather continually add more currency for players to pick up than fix the real issue. |
