144Hz screen, but PoE caps at 60 fps

Hi!

Fps in PoE is hard capped at 60fps on my PC, they are stable (59-60) and don't up or down. This isn't a perfomance problem and I can get 144 fps in other games, so it isn't tied to hardware problems.

PC Specs:
i7-9700k
1060 6gb
16gb vram

Display: LG Ultragear 2k@144Hz (connected with Display port 1.4)

Display settings in windows: 2k@144Hz
Nvidia display settings: 2k@144Hz
Display inernal settings: 2k@144Hz

I have 2 displays, an old one is 60hz (HDMI) and new one is 144hz. I also had MSI Afterburner, RivaTuner and Wallpaper Engine. Googled, that they could cause some problems.

So I disconnected the old screen, completely uninstalled these apps, rebooted PC and reinstalled the game, then rebooted again and tried to change all graphic settings in different combos:

Fullscreen / Windowed (Fullscreen by default)
Turn on and off VSync (Off by default)
different detail settings (Lowest by default)
Turn on and off Dynamic resolution (Off by default)

Nothing helped. 60 fps cap is still there :(

What could I miss?

go into the game settings and make sure your foreground FPS setting is not checked or set to 144fps

Heyo,

Please go to C:\Users\YOUR_NAME_GOES_HERE\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile.

You'll find a file called production_Config.ini (Windows may not display the ".ini").

You can skip this paragraph if playing through Steam. Open the file in Notepad, and check to see whether it contains your e-mail address; you can do this by holding down the Ctrl key while tapping F, and typing @ into the find box. If it's there, edit it out.

Once that's done, either post it here or link us to it on Pastebin. Somewhat refreshingly, you don't need to register an account to use the website - and doing so does help keep the thread tidy.

This contains your client's settings - stuff like your resolution, how many sound channels you're using, and what buttons you press to activate skills. Other than potentially storing an e-mail address (caused by having the standalone client remember you), it won't contain personal information.

I... am not entirely sure what I'm looking for. If the problem is unique to Path of Exile (and it sounds like it is), and if not everyone has this issue (I've a 2560x1440 144 Hz screen & a 1920x1080 60 Hz screen and am not capped to 60), then logically speaking, it's probably something settings-related. You've definitely hit the obvious ones, but maybe something will jump out at me.

It's a good thought, but it can't be that.

OP has mentioned toggling Vertical Sync. Path of Exile disables the Foreground FPS setting and doesn't permit you to change it if VSync is active (they're incompatible with one another).

There is another area in the NVidia Control Panel that can affect the game's FPS:

Will shit...

Global settings in this tab had no fps restrictions and haven't touched program settings ever. But when I selected poe exe file, it showed 60 fps limitation... I didn't thought it could work like that.

Thank you, guys! The problem is fixed now even for the two displays setup :)

Hope you'll get your karma mirrors in the new league ;PP
Nicely done, Jadian.

Wouldn't have thought of that for quite a while (if at all!).
