One frequently overlooked point in the "evasion vs. dodge" (entropy) debate

I’m about 95% sure you’re a GGG employee. The amount of “damage control” posts and proverbial GGG fellatio you do is staggering.

" He's actually trying to have a discussion on the matter, instead of being a caveman, going "Nerf BAD. Buffs GOOD. Things I don't understand? NERFS, ergo BAD". Anyhow, I've mentioned the crit mitigation on evasion in several debates in here. Either people don't know about it, they don't care about it - or they purposely ignore that it's a thing, thinking "crits aren't dangerous", while being one of the most dangerous things in the game in a lot of cases. I still think that the lack of the dodge layer of defense will suck for a lot of players. But watching the latest Fated Connections podcast, someone said something interesting: While very powerful, full EV+dodge character trains players to ignore dangers, not knowing the dangers are there at all. I don't know if that's a good thing for the game. But I have a question; we know that EV gear can have Spell Suppression. We know that AR gear can have % reduced physical damage taken. Can hybrid EV/AR gear have both? I actually think that EV/AR hybrids might look very interesting this league, which is about fucking time. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you. Last edited by Phrazz#3529 on Oct 11, 2021, 10:58:17 AM

" Is that so? - https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2934484 Fyi, I've been the most prominent and consistent critic on these forums of their Code of Conduct. Also made the most popular post both here and on Reddit against the Salvage Box when that was introduced, followed by its scrapping a day later. And attacked the multiple new league stash tabs when they were added. And so on. Rather a weird way to do some proverbial fellatio for the company. Just cos we have a different idea of game balance doesn't give you much basis to think I'm here to champion everything GGG does. |

" I 100% agree with the sentiment that a mechanical damage avoidance has been bad for the game; particularly when some people think an acceptable amount of times being hit in a map to be able to survive is zero. People have literally said that being hit in a map is certain death for them. I would lump invincible builds and block builds into this discussion as well. When I say damage avoidance, I mean a skill/item/passive that does the work of avoiding the damage. I suppose deep delving relies heavily on that so I can see that group being frustrated, but seriously, they're getting to like 15,000. That's insane and undoubtedly well beyond any depth GGG expected to need to balance for. Iron reflexes definitely helps you to learn that critical strikes are bad. When you always take a critical strike, it's crystal clear how dangerous it is. Last edited by Nubatron#4333 on Oct 11, 2021, 11:08:36 AM

" Didn't think of that. That is an interesting question indeed. Although I suspect that both of those are suffixes, which is also where a lot of other important mods are situated. There's going to be even more suffix pressure on gear now. Edit:- Probably yes. Currently AR/EV hybrid chests can have both the %phys dmg reduction from armor pieces, and the %chance to dodge attacks from evasion pieces. They're most likely just gonna replace the dodge mod with spell suppression, which should mean that the hybrid ones also get it. Last edited by Exile009#1139 on Oct 11, 2021, 11:14:45 AM

" Yeah, suffix starvation may be a thing, but we have lots of gear slots. I'm going AR/EV hybrid for sure, and then I will see if can can fit in both VC and spell suppression while maintaining a respectable amount of DPS. Have no idea about what skill to play, though. Hoping we'll get some new, interesting melee skills, but we all know the chances of that happening. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

I think Duelist in general might be the strongest defensive option now, depending on where the new block Keystone is situated.
U have access to a lot of evasion notes, can get the new Keystone that gives spell suppression instead of evasion per dex and u're able to get alot of block. So pared with grace or blind, 75%+ evasion with 50/50 block and spell suppression should be easy doable. Maybe u can even pick up some of the new +max res notes they'll add aswell. Dunno about the armor variant with IR, might be strong aswell. Last edited by Sadaukar#2191 on Oct 11, 2021, 12:02:42 PM
