Tempering/Tailoring Orb Question
Do they work on unique items? Or only rares? Also any information of weighting of the mods? Are they like Cluster jewels with a relatively narrow set of enchants, or can you end up with silly caster mods on your sword?
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too expensive of an item to experiment with. Would like to figure out some of their limitations before I start dropping mad currency on them. Last bumped on Jul 3, 2021, 5:37:26 PM

It does not say that it does not apply to unique items, so it does work on unique items. In most cases it might be cheaper to use Trash to Treasure on a base that is already enchanted however.
As far as I can tell, the weighting is even for all enchantments, though some are restricted by item level. So if you want a lower item level enchantment, try to get an item that can roll fewer of them. I do not think that there are any restrictions between caster and non-caster weapons, but you can check trade if you want to be sure. Just because something is possible does not mean that it would be listed for trade, but most items that are possible are also listed. |

" Ahhh wonderful info - thanks! As to the weapons in question, I have a pair of perfect, (every stat), legacy Rigwald's swords that I am attached to, they have been my champion's weapons for years and years. But it's getting harder and harder to do the end-game with them - was wondering if this is a viable path to upgrading them. Saw a few of those mods that might add about 30-40 base damage to them, but it sounds like the amount of currency needed to pull them would be... prohibitive. |

" generally with tailoring/tempering orbs you either start with it, or its a big big item(mirror/hundreds of exalts tier, legacy uniques, or you are going for perfectly rolled Meta uniques and double corrupting gambling. with phys weapons harvest enchants are out of the question(as they will remove phys damage). |

" Yeah they're legacy. The tempering orbs won't remove the quality correct? I've steered clear of harvest enchants for that reason. |

" They will not. Only the Harvest enchantments do that. |

Well it sounds like they could hypothetically work. Push the old Rigs over 400.
Going to have to save up a few mirrors I suspect. Yes... I do realize I could do better for far less. I get attached to things. In Diablo II, my barb still has the 251 executioner's sword I found back in classic - I found ways to make it work. (Deadly strike/Crushing blow). He can do Pandemonium event. It's hard to explain. Thanks for all the assistance! |
