[POE2] Are we going to keep and fully use our bought stash tabs from POE1 into POE2?

I need to have this clarified and crystalized.

And no, I'm not going to buy them all over again. If I have to, I'll never switch to POE2.

And no tricks like read-only/remove only etc...

you will keep everything
There is no such problem if you ignore standard league and fresh start every 3 months.

Apologies, I'm a standard player mostly.

I do play leagues, usually on launch, but if you tell me I'd rebuy the tabs again it's a no go.
GGG or Chris has long confirm mtx is shared . And these post reappear again and again

There is a problem though if you are too narrow-minded to understand that some people play Standard league, for good reasons.

Apart from that, it would still be a problem if I lose my map, currency, div card, essence, quad stash tabs, because I need them when playing league, too.

That said, you will keep your stash tabs. If they make them remove-only (which I doubt), you will get fresh, empty stash tabs.

You will keep all mtx (including stashtabs), characters and items. As it should be.

POE 2 is designed primarily for console.
they said we will keep all MTX not a word said about stashes tho.. so its good to know !

i wonder tho how they gonna do that? because the game gonna use entirely different graphic are they legit going to manually recreate every single set in game to to new game graphic ? sounds like alot of work!

but its also a chance for them i guess to renew some old sets that looks shit and update them .. like pure light and pure chaos the design isnt bad so they dont relaly need to remake them but would be nice if they make it not look like pixels like it looks now
stash upgrade is a kind of microtransaction

The two storyline campaign shared the same endgame, so that it is not possible to wipe perma league stash

That '2' applied to what is essentially a chunky Path of Exile '1' version upgrade was marketing cleverness but oh boy did it ever reinforce how poorly GGG communicate with their players these days. Or perhaps more accurately how loath they are to put the nature of PoE2 into plain terms.

The pie they want to have: the name "Path of Exile 2" to compete with certain other ARPG sequels and new entrants to the field...and perhaps a simpler desire to make it seem as though Path of Exile 4.0 won't be the same old game a lot of folks have outgrown or from which they've moved on.

The pie they want to eat: retention of players who have invested so much into the game so far and, as with the OP, would not buy new similar mtxes for a new game. Further, if it were clear that mtxes didn't carry over to a true PoE sequel, a lot of people would stop buying mtxes for PoE 1...which, I imagine, would be disastrous for the development of that sequel.

The solution? Well there isn't one, hence the have the pie and eat it too conundrum. But the closest thing? Revamp the old, call it new, and consider the ongoing confusion as to which it really is an acceptable problem.

I wonder if Overwatch's community is having a similar issue, given it's sort of the same deal there: massive pve content addition but same core game, and labelled Overwatch 2...I suspect not, given OW's pseudo sequel is much more publicised and Blizzard don't have to worry about the pie conundrum. Unlike GGG, they have a number of baked goods on offer and in the oven.

As for the amount of work, I also suspect it's less work (and more productive) to squeeze as much life out of the existing PoE engine than it would be to update every single existing mtx in a new one.

There is little financial point to a true f2p sequel if you can't sell a bunch of new mtx to go with it.

So all told, it's just plain safer to stick with a game you know your players love and will support than make a new one. Even if that means being...very flexible with the definition of a "sequel".

This is why you very very rarely see a sequel to a Game As A Service style model. It's easier to milk your one very fat cow dry than stop halfway and hope to find another one. And with a GaaS it's always halfway, even when the last drop is just one more squeeze away.

And they said *I* was bad at PoE. At least I made it out of act 1 and know how to use the /dnd function. El oh fucking el.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
