[Trap/Mine] inconsistent (ie: broken) Zealotry interaction.
Final Edit 2 (2023-08-16):
Users pir2pir (bug report) and MonaHuna (includes video link) reported this issue also occurs without Zealotry but with Scion-Inquisitors with the stat "10% chance to create Consecrated Ground when you hit a rare or unique enemy". Thus it seems this is not actually a wonky interaction between auras and traps/mines. Final edit (2021-06-08): TLDR: Zealotry is not intended to work with traps/mines at all. This interaction will be removed entirely at some point. My question about how traps/mines interact with Auras was answered in the second 'Game Mechanics Q&A' (tyvm for the answer btw) (emphasis mine): " The second highlighted line above explains why trap/mine skills that hit instantly aren't affected by Zealotry. Title: Trap and mine skills don't proc Zealotry's consecrated ground if they hit instantly after triggering. Edit: TLDR: Trap skills don't proc Zealotry's consecrated ground if they hit instantly after triggering. Some trap skills will proc Zealotry's consecrated ground if they hit <some short time> after triggering but not if they trigger directly under an enemy. I've found no mention of a time-delay requirement regarding Zealotry when using traps. /debug number: 845,897,572. Obligatory Screenshot I've tested with a number of different trap skills (usually observing several dozen hits before making a conclusion) and it appears that traps that hit instantly after triggering don't proc Zealotry's consecrated ground (ZCG) effect. On the other hand, traps that hit <some amount of time> after triggering can proc the effect. This means that traps that are triggered by an enemy (or at least by an enemy being on top of it) will never proc ZCG unless the trap skill has an inherent delay before hitting (like Orb of Storms, Storm Call, Bladefall, etc). Traps that hit and 'travel' instantly never proc ZCG regardless of placement (skills like Arc, Bodyswap, Novas, Explosive Trap). This also means that some traps with 'flight time' will trigger ZCG on remote enemies but not when the trap triggers below an enemy. My overall conclusion about 'time after triggering' or 'flight time' might be wrong (for example: Lightning Trap's projectiles have `flight time` but still don't proc ZCG, but maybe the 'flight time' only applies to skills supported by Trap Support) but there's clearly something inconsistent here. Summary of testing: Test 'bench':
This allows me to test on Kuduku in Ledge indefinitely with no risk (other than accidently killing it when using skills with flat chance to freeze/ignite). Trap Skills tested:
Mine skills tested (used Blastchain Mine Support where appropriate):

Added a TLDR section:

I spent another 3ish hours testing mines and updated the first post with my results (mostly the same as my results with traps).
Found and added more 'similar reports' to that section. This buggy interaction has affected a lot of players and lead to the distribution of a lot of misinformation. |
