Remnant of Corruption Bug with Prime Sextant Essence modifier
I have been running into cases where applying a Remnant of Corruption on a pack will do absolutely nothing. Now, initially I thought it was just the Controlled Corruption Node that was triggering and I had rolled into the Empowered Essence option. However, certain behavior leads me to believe that this is not the case.
When applying corruption, there are 4 possibilities. (1) empowered mobs break free, (2) Essence Level is upgraded, (3) Essence Tier is upgraded, and (4) and additional Essence is added. The sextant mod will roll to determine if it adds a Remnant of Corruption on a 50% chance. If it does land, it will roll corruption mods on the base essence pack as well. When the corruption is rolled due to the sextant, if it hits the Mobs break free option, it will not add a Remnant of Corruption, the base essence will not be changed, and the pack will not break free due to the Controlled Corruption Atlas passive. This does not add a corrupted indicator to the essence pack. (all other possibilities will corrupt it). This is not just a visual bug. The essence pack is not considered corrupted ( if it hits (1) ) and will burn a single Remnant of Corruption before the pack is marked as corrupted. When the player then applies an essence on the previously discussed essence pack, It will roll the corruption again. If it lands on (2) (3) (4), it will do nothing. If it lands on (1), the essence pack will grow in size visually. This means that the single Remnant of Corruption that the player uses is wasted since nothing can actually happen when it is used. There is no way to distinguish a clean essence pack and an affected essence pack by this bug. To be clear, the bug is that if the sextant corruption roll lands on (1) monsters break free with the Controlled Corruption Atlas Node taken, the visual "corrupted" message will not be shown and the player can still use a Remnant of Corruption on this pack, which will not provide any bonuses. Replication: 1) Take the Controlled Corruption Atlas Node 2) Roll the Essence Sextant Mods. This is only available on Prime Sextants 3) Run Haewark Maps. There will be 3-4 essence packs available. 4) Find a seemingly uncorrupted essence pack. Apply a Remnant of Corruption to it. Keep track of how many Remnants you have. 5a) If it is a clean essence pack, the corruption will still work 5b) If it is an affected essence pack, you will lose a Remnant of Corruption with no change at a 75% chance and a visual size growth at a 25% chance. The corrupted marker will not appear in either of these cases. Last edited by BootTheBunny#7774 on Mar 13, 2021, 5:22:29 PM Last bumped on Mar 13, 2021, 5:16:42 PM
