Snaek Prievew of My Taelnt Ntree [Musik]
Which obviously doesn't involve spelling things "the right way".
My entry for the talent competition is a music one. It's a dedication to my favorite exile. Can you guess which one? I'm asking any audiophiles out there to comment on the clarity/levels of the mix before I upload the whole entry to the main forum post. I am composing using laptop speakers and a set of headphones that have near zero bass extension so that's why I'm asking. Plus I don't know how to master. You may notice I just shoved the bass off to the left speaker because I didn't know where else to put it ;( There is also a bonus track from 7 years ago. You can tell how bad my mixing/mastering is from that. The entry is the first. The reference of bad mastering is second. https://soundcloud.com/bearcares/sets/mastering-mixing/s-wz8S61kWUpJ Last bumped on Mar 10, 2021, 5:04:15 PM

" I like it. Balance levels of various instruments are good. Lots of spacing, everything is clear, nothing overpowered or muddy. The bass to one side (left) should probably be centered or close to center with something balancing it out rhythmically. Here's an example of what I mean by that (In this case the bassline is slightly left of center and balanced out by staccato chords on the right channel) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ikiOWAToSg Keep in mind in a good system, the subwoofer really isn't directional. Hope that helps and good luck on your submission! PoE Origins - Piety's story http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2081910 Last edited by DalaiLama#6738 on Feb 15, 2021, 8:36:51 AM

Yeah I moved the bass from the left to the mid-left and I actually have it dancing around a bit because why not. Anyway my job sent me to a hotel for a few days and so I've been trying to improve the mix. The song is basically 3 minutes at this point. And I just wanted to show this screenshot of all the different parts I am trying to mix in case some people don't know what I'm talking about.
Each colored column is a different part/instrument! Then the bottom of the screen you can see where all the effects like panning and EQ can be loaded up and configured. Then there are envelopes and stuff in other screens etc. Cool but complex kinda like PoE I guess. I'll be putting the latest mix up probably in a few days for audiphiles to critique the mix I have so far. |

Well here it is. I have long hours at work. And there are 2-3 days left. So... audiophiles tell me bout dat mix - personally I think it is muddy and too low in volume. I have like 20 different mixes at this point but I consider this the basic mix so if you could particularly talk about the left channel instruments and the brass and the overall clarity thx a lot anyway the theme of this entry is the witch going to her personal garden in order to relax and unwind - so it's a little mellow i guess which isn't PoE's thing. But I wanted this to be a character exploration of the witch Oh yeah here is the single cover art for Relax in da Garden: |

rip that link but assuming that "god may smile" on that soundcloud is your entry for the talent thing, it's pretty cute. bass seems kinda quiet, those keys (lead??) that kicks in halfway through is great
good shit, trackers are far too big brain for me. I just derp around in fl studio and, more recently, vcv rack |
