Remove Proximity Shield mod. Or at least rework it
Why still using that mod? Is the most annoying mod in game. with harbingers, in blighted maps, in ritual, in other events there is a rare monsters with that fucking mod. Or al least change it for deal less damage.

I swear the mod has been popping up more often as of late.
My issue is that it's inconsistent. Take Toxic Rain as example. By concept this skill should be blocked by Prox shields but it's not. Meanwhile if I sweep just a inch too far away nothing happens or if I'm using too much +Melee Range I hit behind smaller enemies also doing nothing. This is the only game I know where too close can be a bad thing for melee strikes. The whole point is in the name. You have to be within proximity to hurt the enemy but revamped mechanics and wonky skill interactions make it inconsistent and quite annoying. In the end Prox shields mostly just hurts build diversity as Prolif or some other spread method ignores them. Personally I think a good solution would be to have to shield shut down for a period when you enter the area regardless of what setup you're using. Fixing +Melee Range so the player can strike within their min to max range instead of always using max would help in general too. "Never trust floating women." -Officer Kirac

Recently I understood why it is so important - it is supposed to give melee a chance. For example, I can easily destroy the Harbinger group with its proximity shields when I am playing a build that goes right up in their faces to hit them. I too used to be frustrated but now I can at least tolerate it.

Don't forget Essence Drain bypasses ProxShield - the hit damage is blocked, the DoT is not.
Admittedly, it's not fun while you have to engage 10 harbinger at the same time, with you shoothing from a screen's distance because the server is ball tripping and your graphic card is having a seizure... and, meanwhile, they have formed a literal bastion of proxShield totems that pretty much make them unable to spawn more monsters... so you have to TP there, play at 1FPS and pretty much die. True, the Reinforment Harbinger is something you brought to yourself, but still. On the other hand, I find fair not-permanent proxShields like the ones from Templars and Evangelists. Annoying, true, but after their 20-30 seconds of invulnerability you can pop them away. |
