Font of Thunder + Mind of the Counsil + Righteous Fire not working as per their descriptions.

Neither Font of Thunder or Mind of the Counsil specifies that the damage must be from a "Hit".
With Font of Thunder 40% of my RF Self damage should be Lightning.
with Mind of the Counsil 30% of Lightning damage taken should damage mana before life.

But none of my Righteous fire self damage is taken from mana before life.

I don't know how this is intended to work, are the tooltips just missing to mention that the damage must come from a "Hit" or is there something else?

Hi, I have no answer but some thoughts. According to the wiki, we cannot double convert damage taken as, but I don't know if that includes "taken from mana".

So, to test, what happens if you drop as much lightning res as possible but still max fire res? You should notice if DoT is taken as full fire or not by putting on /off the shield.
AFAIK damage conversion never worked with DoTs, no matter the type of conversion nor the wording (taken as/converted to).

Hi, I tested this and the strangest thing happened.

First test:
not using the helm or shield
2297 life
457 es
75 fire res
-21 lightning res
using
as it have similar ES value

start RF and swaps the shield for

and I start taking noticable less damage from RF, even tho my lightning res is negative 21%

equipped a few items to get my lightning resist to 75% and i notice no difference from when it was -21%

Conclusion:

does seem to affect fire damage over time taken, converting it to something else but the amount of lightning resistance you have does not seem to matter.

Do the game even have capability of doing lightning damage over time properly at this time?

Well, in all other cases of damage conversion that i can find it is specified as "when hit" implying that it would not work with DoT's but in the case of this shield it is not specified.
The first time I stumbled upon such a mod was in talisman, and that was when these ever appeared iirc.
"% fire damage taken as cold" looked great for RF. No it wasn't.

It's the wording which confuses you, and many others as well.
I guess developers consider by default that you should know DoTs can't be converted - no matter if it's about damage taken or applied on mosters by your skills.

If meanwhile anything have changed, you may eventually get your answers by a helpful developer, in this thread.

I discovered this when messing around with RF and Font of Thunder when it came out. It definitely drops the damage you take, likely by error. Couldn't find a way to make it work better than a standard RF setup though, unfortunately.
