Mapping - Atlas - when is ok to start juicing?
So I’ve watched quite a few videos talking about how to juice your maps to maintain your t16 map count. Thing is, I’m not actually good enough at building a character to really survive t16 juiced maps when I get there. My question is how much would I be losing out on if I started juicing a lot in t7-t8? The only thing that sticks out to me is lower item levels.
I’m playing an Arc Elementalist build, and after looking up some tips I’m sporting 5k ehp w/ 3k aegis, 100k/arc w/ GSE. Tips really helped push my build in the right direction and I’m clearing mid tier maps easily now. I’m a firm believer in ‘all that glitters is gold’ so I really like seeing lots of shiny stuff dropping with sound effects. If I start juicing in mid tier maps, am I going to lose money? Currently having no trouble sustaining and I’m getting a little profit just from alch and go low tiers. Last bumped on Jan 30, 2021, 12:09:37 AM

if you really feel like your character is weak i think you should focus on side content for now like heist contracts, blighted maps, beachhead, and try to play around with the mods that ok for your build and avoid the mods that going to kill you, it's not too late to start doing harder content once you get enough currency.

I think if you do 50 alch+chisel+vaal maps with 2 low tier sextants, 2 rusted scarabs (that synnergize with your atlas zone) and 2 sac fragments you will make currency. Idk about going farther than that, if fortune favors would be worth it, or trying to manipulate prophecies or any of that other stuff.
I almost always play the majority of my maps at white/yellow tier although this league I'm not because I guess I stumbled into a decent character for a change. The main things you miss out on are the subtle top end of league mechanics. Bestiary - you can't get the top end red beasts Blight - you can't get golden or silver oils if low enough (these are worth 25% of what they were in past leagues, not missing out on too much here) Breach and Legion - you might see Chayula and Maraketh a little bit less, not a big deal imo Incursion - you miss out on nothing but iLvl for items Syndicate - lower tier rewards (rusted scarabs instead of polished/gilded) a lot of other rewards are the same though. You are right in that iLvl bases is the main thing you'd be missing out on, that and influenced items. Honestly these sell great when the league starts but prices quickly drop off a cliff so even now I don't think you're missing out on too much there. Your rituals will be of a lower quality at the low/mid end. Lower tier scarabs and essences to buy. But I'm pretty sure you can still get offered most of the big ticket items like HH. I got my fated connections offer in a T3 map. like your 'losses' will definitely add up over time (which is to say your gains won't be as big - its hard to actually lose currency if you just play the game and kill all the things and know what to pick up and trade), but as long as you're not paying 10c for gilded scarabs and just running reasonable juice I think you'll be satisfied. Don't forget there are maps dropping in Ritual that come with delirium orbs already applied - I searched for these on day 6/7 of the league and bought t1-9 maps of this sort for 2-5c. If they are still that cheap they can be a great source of drops...I think they go unbought because 'bad' players that are 'only' in white maps don't know about them, or don't think they can do them while the 'top' players wouldn't dare waste their time in such 'pleb content'. That could be your sweet spot. And delirium has a tendancy to get hectic, especially with beyond. Last edited by innervation#4093 on Jan 29, 2021, 11:08:12 AM

100K? No wonder. You have to play a broken builds where a few chaos can do T16 with a 3L like BFBB assassin or chieftain. With 15c tabula it's 4 million dps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olyY7cO9NAA
Anyway I SSF and always sustain T16 fine whites and yellow just alc and go Red alc vaal and go T14+ sustain chisel, alc, vaal, sextant and go. Git R Dun! Last edited by Aim_Deep#3474 on Jan 29, 2021, 11:32:59 AM

play the game how you want, buddy. stop watching/listening to all these things about optimal bullcrap. you do you.
guides on how to juice maps are fine but certainly you can start juicing t8s or even lower. especially now with atlas passives (if you can get some of those) makes it so much easier. so many people would cringe at the thought of using a sextant or scarab on a t6 map because its far from "optimal" and might hurt your "chaos per hour"!! oh heavens noooes!!! who cares. do it. if thats what you want to do, if thats the content you can do, do it. the only thing stopping you is the illusion that you're "not supposed to" |

It helps a lot if you understand what map mods your char can do and what not. This is more important than the actual tier.
A weaker char can take one damage mod and a curse just fine even at t16, but if you have three damage mods, no regen and stuff on the ground only very few chars will be able to even do t14. There are also some bosses that are harder to kill or some mobs that do more damage, try to analyze these things and you will get better. |

Do what you feel comfortable. Its really hard to not sustain maps in this game unless you are running them white.
