What's with the super slow texture loading?

I'm not sure if this is just me but the texture loading in game is absolutely horrible for this league. I have even lowered some textures and still the loads take in excess of 5 seconds at times and even occurs int he middle of a map. I know it's the start of a league and all but don't you guys cache the textures on the client? If this is the case it shouldn't require the same reload time after the tile set is cached should it? Dynamic culling and/or resolution at best does nothing, at worst it intensifies the problem for me so I am at a loss why this is happening. I've never had texture load issues like this on the DX11 Renderer nor has any previous league been so awful with the texture loading. I expect lag with the start of a league and I am getting some of that but I don't believe the lag is the problem as once the textures load the lag is ... well, manageable anyway. Whatever the reason for the texture load issue I hope it starts behaving as 3 seconds to load a texture in the middle of a map which 'should' already be cashed when I load into the map is very inefficient and impedes game play. They have changed how texture are loaded.
Specifically now you reload some low resolution text then load higher res till you fill your V-ram ... every map (or any load zone )they already acknowledge there issue with this new system. Last edited by Sky7a#7814 on Jan 26, 2021, 4:27:34 PM

" i know right? ^^ But maybe they gonna open more beta slot since they said they're gonna prevent beta tester for race prize.Who knows maybe they restart to recruit for those server but advantage is not the only problem . Info leak before league advertising is a huge factor too you must get trusty betatester. |

Last league for me was delirium and I stopped no long into it.
In Delirium league every time I opened delirium I got this game freeze, stutter or what every want to call it for up to 5 sec and after that it worked fine. Now I got SSD, my processor is double in power and what I get now? Texture missing and loading when I already left loading screen. And yes that stutter, freeze is back and no this time delirium is fine but now every single instance when I engage monster it happens, it destroy my game, after that it work fine but FSS I think it even happen when portaling back like game unloaded my skills and what not. I started downloading game again (27.23gb from 49+ for what ever reason) and hope it was some glitch. Game worked better before if you ask me. Game is overloaded with sound effects (especially during intense fights), its overloaded with microtransactions (wanna do Heist omfg lag fest in that instance of a town), there are some problems for sure. I just cant explain how shit it is to start every instance with 5 sec of most horrible lag, in addition to crap texture loading. I just hope when I reinstall the game this crap will go away. I posted/answered yesterday to some dude who tought it would be fun/usefull to add sounds for flasks. Like dude for real more sounds? Was also about to say that there is already a overload of sounds but decided not too. Atleast I'm not alone in this boat^^ |

Reinstalled the game, lost 20gb from ggpk file, texture where worst thing ever after first run but it got loot better during game play, but still to early to say as I not have much time in game. Lag spikes every instance when first engaging the monsters is still bad as ever, its like game keep unloading my skills and when I use them the game start loading them in that moment, really really bad timing don't you think? |

Got the same issues here. Takes forever to load all the textures and in maps it seems so reload textures which just were used some minutes ago. Its really annoying and delirium is kinda unplayable cuz its lags on top. I prefered the Heist solo hub cuz now you need to load ALL these effects and cosmetics from all the other players. For what?

" Add to that the fact that in some maps, monsters spawn right next to the starting portal and you have some unhappy players. If I didn't go for a tanky minion build, I would have died at least 3 times today, because I can hear battle going on, but the screen hasn't loaded yet and I can neither see nor control my char for the first 5-8 seconds of that fight. I don't know what happened, monsters spawning near the entrance of areas/maps was unheard of a few years ago. Who ditched that principle and why?! Then about a year ago, they started spawning all over in ever more mpas. And now POE has slowed loading down so much that these 5 seconds of unplayable window will surely kill a hell of a lot of players in mean maps. Sorry to be so blunt, but that kind of crap should be found by a QA team 1 hour into their first tests. Jeez, SB PS: Oh, and my HW is still the same as during harvest (i7 with SSD) where loading was never an issue. So, no, it's not the punter's fault. May your maps be bountiful, exile
