Mystery boxes duplicates improvement

Hi, I already sent it to the support but I post it here for visibility and to gather the general consensus and opinions.

Duplicate MTX are often "waste" in our inventory and as I can tell, it is an important factor when deciding to buy gambling packs.
Almost any gambling system that allows duplicates I know implements a sort of mitigation mechanic.

Propositions follow:

-Functionality of duplicate partial refund (for example the pack costs 30 points, if you get a duplicate you can choose to melt it for a secondary currency worth or directly 90% of value or full value but still unusable for further gambling).
IMPORTANT: I think the conversion in a secondary currency or new items is way better to prevent recycling gambles and frustration in losses example: I regain 90% of the value of the packs, the risk is that I will reuse this to gamble again (potentially getting other duplicates without a prevention system in place) thus increasing the frustration and progressively losing more value of my money spent.

-Possibility to trade-in duplicates for precise items, or even implementing a duplicate preventing statistic mechanism (does not prevent completely but reduces the chances that something like my case happens, 6 same items means 5 wasted items, 30x5=150= 15 dollars wasted, that’s shameful).


Anyway these are propositions, please feel free to discuss and I will update when other propositions come up.

I am sure people would buy these packs more gladly if duplicates could be converted in something useful.

Remove duplicates = increase in price. If you don't want to lose, just buy what you want when it hits the store.
tbh, boxes were already increased in price. IIRC boxes used to be 15 points, and now they're 30. Not to mention the extremely laggy servers with what? 11% above player peak? at league launch? lol yeah, ima be saving my money for a longgg time.

Well negativity does not really move the case forward, I am sure if they see a relevant consensus they will think about it.

I disagree, the gambling will still be there but the duplicates can be converted in something else which does not mean you get to "retry": you gambled you lost. But the item you got has a value and if you already have it you can choose to simply get something else when you gather the full needed amount of said currency.

The reasoning of why this would be advantageous for GGG is that it would encourage past and future buyers because they can either win or they will have to buy something else full price. GGG still gets the money and players are not frustrated/afraid of gambling= more sales.

I can take myself as an example, I won't ever gamble again in mystery boxes if the system stays the same, I would gladly spend even more if I could free my inventory of undesirable duplicates without losing the whole value.

I agree... Mystery boxes duplicate items need a system to allow us to do something about those duplicates
yeah i think 90% is unrealistic demand but.. i think something like 30% would be good.

a system that let players destroy into shards an item they dont want duplicated or unwated item from the box .. maybe not even 30% maybe 20% ..

and in return for sacrificing that item they would get shards equal to 15-20% of that item worth in points (only the player will get shards based on the box these duplicate came from for example.. if you sacrifice item from the current apollyon box lets say the item worth 160 points you would be getting 32 apollyon shards) these shards you can then use to craft an item from what the box offer at its full price so if you want to craft lets say wings.. you would need to sacrifice 10 items that are 160 points worth. this system definitely still is gamble.. and is definitely not gonna be abused by someone who did 10 boxes.. becuse if you need to sacrifice 10 items that are 160 points each just to craft 1 set of wings.. this already require quite abit of boxes becuase its super unlikely that all 10 or even 20 would give 160 + value on each box and even then you wouldnt want to destroy item you dont have duplicate of it just for 20% of its value..

but this system is going to ensure that players who have spent 200 + usd on boxes could still craft the stubborn parts who refused to come up and finish their set by sacrificing alot of duplicate and trash !
